I using a Sram 53-39 at the moment. I see that has a Sram 11sp 55t ring with recomended 42 inner ring. Anyone try this?

I'm running a 55/44 without any issues. I use a Rotor aero outer chainring rather than SRAM.

The difference between the 55 and 39 is so large that you tend to drop the chain more often. There are probably issues with locations of the pins, ramps, and tooth offset that are designed specifically for the 53/39 or 55/42.
You can run this gearing, but take the shifts easy and don't expect it to work well. If you really want the 55 billion t still need the 39, then run the 55/42 and add the additional yearling to the cassette. For example switch from an 11-25 to 11-27.

That's what I run, works great no problems.
