I think KMC are fair in this regard, they clearly state which of their links are rated as reusable and which ones aren't:

R) then they are fine to reuse and if it's not (e.g. the 11-speed CL555) then they're not. Obviously people can and have reused "non-re-usable" links, but KMC probably have a specific reason for stating that they're not rated for reuse; furthermore I think it's telling that none of the big manufacturers make an 11-speed quick that is rated for reuse.
As for why use a non-reusable quick link at all, I take your point, but IMO they're still quicker and easier to install than a chain-pin, especially on 11-speed where the tolerances are very tight.
