Another Kona Lottery?
I was reading the ironmanlive rr for WA and they said Anderson's wife had already won a Kona lottery spot for 2006. Is there a double secret lottery that only insiders know about or am I just green?

Mahalo,

Matt

could have been a typo - the lottery isn't drawn until April - unless she is in under a special interest entry

People at the 2005 IM Wisconsin and 2005 IM florida qualified for the 2006 Kona race. Maybe there was a mix up in the announcement, and she "won" a qualifying slot rather than a lottery slot?

Thanks. Just thought it was curious when I read the report. I never heard of any other lottery. Just donation spots.

Here is the response I got from Diana Bertsch:

Aloha Sharon:

The below is pulled from the www.cmxtravel.com website. One of the conferences they feature on their website is the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference that is held in Kona each year during Ironman race week. The slot Bridie won was through Gatorade and the official Ironman Medical Symposium.

I hope this provides you with the details you are looking for.

With Aloha,

Diana
