I loved looking at those old paperback covers; they were spot-on

Last night certainly looked like a nod to Barton Fink. Not the first time they've taken elements from other Coen Brothers movies. I really thought the episode was going to end in a big fire.

As soon as I saw the hotel bell, I thought of Chet

I get a bad feeling whenever Ray Wise / Leland Palmer shows up; this was no exception

Last season took place in 1979, and ended with what could be a UFO; sci-fi author Tad Mobley arrived in Minnesota - as Ennis Stussy - in 1980

Granted, Twin Peaks got all fucked up when they went down the path that "The Black Lodge" was some sort of alien abduction spacecraft and NOT another secret gambling/rape den like "One-Eyed Jacks," so let's hope Fargo doesn't make the same mistake

Without giving away details and spoilers -- holy crap, the scene in this wee's episode that took place around the stump in the clearing of the woods was one of the most entertaining sequences I've watched on TV in a long time.

Interesting if somewhat frustrating finale. Not as good as the first two seasons, but still compelling TV. Hoping it gets renewed for another season.

I'm starting to watch Season 1 tonight because of the recommendations here.

100% agree. The first 2 finales tied things up well and seemed to compliment the remainder of the season. This one felt a little incongruent to me, though. I'd say more, but don't want to drop spoilers in.

Yes, not as good as the first two seasons but that's a really high bar.

The main players in the cast were great (Coon, McGregor, Thewlis, and Winstead). Especially Winstead. She stole the show the second half of the season.

Hated the Sopranos-esque ending. I want to know what happened, not wonder what happened.

Basically, it depends whether you think good is stronger than evil

Terrible. If this is the horse shit we are to expect, I hope it is not renewed for another season.

It was a disappointment overall, yes, but I'm hopeful for a rebound next year.

They went for a lot of complexity this season, but just didn't pull it off like they did with season 2...

Season 2 was masterful - fantastic characters, dialogue, parallel stories, and pacing... All of those things were present (potentially) in season 3, but they never ended up meshing together effectively... It was all just too much and every episode just ended up underbaked.

Season 2 it's still my favorite thing ever on TV, so I won't give up on Noah just yet :)

Agreed, season 1 was great, season 2 was the best thing ever and season 3 was not quite as good. Only in the internet world does something go from great to complete horse shit so easily. Still one of the best things on TV even if it doesn't hold up to the previous seasons.

It was horse shit b/c it did not deliver what is expected of a stand-alone season and fell FAR short of prior seasons. It also completely jumped the shark. Come on.

1. How, exactly, were they able to glue someone's nose shut and lips together? And to do it twice?
2. A broken frame ends up sticking in someone's neck?
3. Nikki Swango go from petty thief to Jason Bourne???
4. Gloria Burgle being "dismissed" the entire series is so ridiculous cliche.
5. At one car length apart, with Emmit in between them and the 9 mm trained on Emmit, Nikki hits the cop with a shotgun and he hits her in the head simultaneously with no harm to Emmit?
6. WTF was up with the bowling alley????
7. The ending had no closure and no satisfaction. Sure, Emmit got his, which was great, but still too many loose ends.

Perhaps they created unattainable expectations with seasons 1 and 2. Perhaps they believed they had to top those, which resulted in jumping the shark.

Come on. In season one fish fell out of the sky in the middle of winter with every lake and river frozen over. If plausibility is your criteria, I'm not sure how you enjoyed the first two seasons.

Are you the same guy who thinks every band's older albums are the best?

I am not that guy. I believe many shows get better with age. This is not one of them. It was rushed at times and the lazy at times. Not their best work by a long shot.

Have a feeling Hawley didn't think it turned out great either:

http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/09/fargo-season-3-last/

"Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley told fans at the ATX Television Festival in Austin on Friday that he doesn’t have an idea for a fourth season of the anthology drama and might not ever have one. “I wasn’t sure if there would be a second season. I wasn’t sure if there would be a third season. At end of season 1, [FX] said, ‘If you want to leave it there [that would be fine],'” Hawley said. “There’s only a certain amount of storytelling you can tell in that vein. And I love telling stories in this vein, but I don’t have another one yet. So watch the 10th hour [of season 3] because it might be the last.”

Liked the bowling alley scene a lot. Reminded me of The Big Lebowski. In Fargo it was more clear to me that it was a sort of purgatory - Nikki and the deaf dude go back into the world, the Cossack meets his doom and pays for the sins of his forefathers.

Agree completely I just don't think that translates to complete horse shit. Go watch 5 minutes of Superior Donuts if you want to see complete horse shit.

Yeah, I expressed that poorly. I really meant the finale was utter horse shit, but I did say the entire season. I enjoyed it until the final episodes during which I feel they got lazy and sloppy. The issue with the ending caused me to be critical of the entire season and that really isn't fair because it did deliver. I just don't want to become invested in another full season if this is an indication of the direction in which it is going.

1. They were old.
2. It was technically a piece of glass.
3. We only saw her as some sort of opportunist hussy in the early episodes but we didn't really know her background or abilities.
4. Agreed.
5. Agreed but with all the gun play nonsense in movies and TV this ranks about one billionth on my outrage meter.
6. Fargo always throw in some supernatural stuff.
7. Agreed.

So was Mr. Wrench the only tie back to other seasons or the movie? It was the only one I picked up on.

That is the only one I caught.

Regarding the super glue, I thought the second guy was younger.
