Is 2014 Shiv Tri UCI Compliant?
With the change to the UCI rules allowing more tube shapes, can anyone tell me if the 2014 Shiv Tri (with bladder) now UCI compliant for time trials?

Is there a list somewhere of compliant bikes?

approved frames

Thanks. I believe that's the list of new bikes that went through the official UCI frame approval process. It doesn't seem to include bikes that the manufacturer didn't put through the process (presumably the Shiv TT is in that category) and it also doesn't include retroactive approvals for older frames (like Shiv Tri). I suppose manufacturers have no incentive to get old frames approved.

I don't own the Shiv Tri so I can't measure off it. I was hoping someone who does have one and has plans to do UCI races might know. I guess that's a fairly small demographic.

Can you elaborate? Is it because of a tube shape ratio, or other reason?

Thanks for your help.

Because the 3:1 tube shape still exists as of Jan 1st. http://www.uci.ch/...1.01-ENG_English.pdf

Plus it's a current production frame that has never been approved.

The summarised ruling is as follows:

if your frame was made before 2009, you don't need to be on the UCI approved frames list. you just need to follow the UCI equipment rules (3:1, max 8cm tube depth, etc. The whole document is a pretty damn long read.)

If your frame was made after 2009, you need to be on the approved frames list. If you are on the approved frames list, it means you've passed the equipment rules.

the Shiv Tri is most definitely NOT UCI compliant, because :

1) it's not on the list
2) it's tubes are deeper than the 3:1 ratio
3) the extra material at the headtube falls outside of the 'compensation triangles)
4) if I'm not wrong, the downtube is deeper than 8cm.

Shiv TT predates the approval requirement, so it doesn't need to appear on the list.
