Help. New road bike decision...
Here's my situation.

I want to develop my top end on the bike so I have decided that, among other things, I will try my hand at road racing. I have only really ridden a 51cm 2000 model P3 in my adult life (I am 41) and have completed 4 Ironmans including Kona. So I am now in the market for a road bike. I am really excited by the prospect of road racing as I love the sport although, given I am a decent IM runner, I think I will always prioritise triathlon. I live in Australia but I'll covert things to US dollars.

I can buy a Cervelo Soloist for around USD 2,200 (Ultegra).

On ebay are these two options:

Note that $5,000 Australian is about USD 3,650 and $3,000 Australian is about USD 2,200.

The complete Dogma is being listed for the second time and received no bids on the first go. I suspect my size is relatively rare and clearly the market is smaller in Oz than the US.

Budget is tight but I am wondering whether the Dogmas represent a very rare opportunity which are perhaps worth making extraordinary efforts to exploit (such as borrowing money).

I am sure the Soloist will be perfectly adequate in helping me achieve my goals (which are really all about getting fatser at IMs). But I would like to know whether as a relatively inexperienced cyclist, will I notice the difference riding the Soloist vs the Dogmas? I can't get them out of my head.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Cheers

Vernon
