a sip here a sip there wouldn't hurt:) be very interested in knowing your thoughts on the SA race - have thought about going back in 2008 or so to do it - the old one in CT wasn't up to scratch

No problem, I will be happy to share my thoughts after. Any pointers you can send my way for me on things to do or avoid whilst there in PE would be appreciated.

Julian, greetings.

I have had extensive experience with water running. This link might contain info that you will find useful. The referenced tether is especially useful for reasons of form, increased resistance, and the ability to structure workouts.

Curious, are you a friend of Gary Gerttula? Gary a good friend of mine here in SF.

Thanks, Mike. I will have a good look at that. No, I am afraid I don't know Gary, the only person I know in SF is Neil Grimmer from IM Germany 2003 where we helped chivvy each other on through the run.

[reply]thank you peggy - didn't see you at the race? how'd it go?

well. PB in the swim, ok on the bike, and great first 10 miles of the run. too much water in my shoes after that, so greased toes were fine, bottoms of my feet howled. also availed myself of the portapotties way more than usual, a real time-taker. got third and was pleased. overall, had a good time.

I have recently experienced slight knee pain on some of my longer runs..and have been wondering about the benefits of aqua jogging...

A couple of questions....The pool I workout in is only 5 feet deep...at the most 5 and 1/2....

Can I still receive the fitness and benefits of running by simply joggin in the water? Do I need to change my form at all? Or simply just run? What type of shoes do you wear? Old running shoes or?

congratulations - the second half of the run tends to hurt more than we want in general...so what's next for you? We'll have to do that drive through the nite again sometime:)

Julian,

You can check my website at www.dogstern or e-mail me at dwrswim@nyc.rr.com ad I will e-mail you the instructions. When you do it correctly you will not be moving around the pool and there is very little knee bend.
