USAT has just announced a 2006 Grand Prix race series, with nationwide series at each of many distances. The Grand Prix races replace the previous format for regional championships, and will be the method of qualifying for nationals.
Unfortunately, the announcement provides zero details about any specific races that have signed on to the Grand Prix circuit. And, of course, we still have no clue where the AG Nationals will be in 2006 for international distance.
I'm wondering why make an announcement about a Grand Prix series when you have no information to entice people? Like, for example, if USAT said that Wildflower or St. Anthony's was already signed up for the Grand Prix at the respective distances, the announcement might be more interesting.
So, to the cynical observer, is this simply an attempt to upstage the WTC 70.3 series? Or to staunch the loss of races from USAT to WTC? I don't understand the point in making an announcement that is devoid of details.
