I might have to travel back home for this one. I guess the swim will be in the Detroit River? How clean is that river anyway??

That's good news. I'll travel to Detroit for this. Had a great Marathon experience there this year.

no DU

OLY and Sprint.

bike for the OLY is on the order of 23.8 due to the loop on the island.

swim is in the area betwen the island and mainland. it has been very clean thanks to those invading zebra mussels. a local group has been doing a mile charity swim there for a while with no issues.

registration may open as early as tomorrow.

i'll advise.

Who's organizing it? 3D, MGPS?

This sounds like it could be on the same weekend as Hubbard Lake Tri. I think I will opt for the crystal clear waters and beautiful scenery of northern Michigan.

Got an e-mail from 3D last night. Looks like they are the organizers. Sounds like a cool venue, just not at all sure about the water down there!

I've done the "Motor City Mile" swim which off Belle Isle every July. The water is very very clean. The water is much cleaner than any inland lake tri swim I've ever done.

I've never understood why someone would hesitate to swim in the Detroit River which has millions of gallons water flowing through it evey day but then that same person willing jumps into a stagnant lake surrounded hundreds of septic fields ;-)
