From today's ride. About as nice as we get around here, but not typical for what is within riding distance of my house. CX bike and 35mm Kenda Happy Mediums.

Hi Nick, the Slate and the Open UP are great examples of gravel bikes. The Cervelo C3/C5 ain't. They have pretty minimal tire clearance to qualify for a CX bike, let alone a gravel bike. Gravel bikes are looking for clearance for at least 40c tires if not more.

That said here's some shots of my gravel bike terrain in Nottingham, NH.Untitled by chrisroundy, on Flickr[/img]Untitled by chrisroundy, on Flickr[/img]

It doesn't seem like you're using 40mm tires.

35c is the stamp on the side but on the crest rims they measured more like 38mm.

Just finished riding the Haute Route Rockies test event in CO, which has gravel on most stages. Gan with 28s wasn't ideal but got it done.

I bought myself a "graduation from post-surgery rehab" present - a Trek Crockett to use as a gravel bike. We have a big group here who rides gravel a lot. My goal for next spring is the Dirty Kanza Lite (100 miles).

Man, I miss the Prarie Path! When we were kids we would ride from Villa Park to Glen Ellyn and think it was a big deal! I live in Utica NY now, not much gravel until you get 15 miles north of the city. There are a bunch of roads around the Hinckley Reservoir, and Moose River Plains in the Adirondack Park, I don't have any pictures handy but here is a link to some video from the Black Fly (goes through the Moose River Plain), gravel starts at 2:08.

The race is a ton of fun but it is even better up there riding alone through the wilderness.

The Cervelo C3 makes me wet.

I want one as my next commuter bike, but with a decent paint job. Yes it will void the warranty, but I was thinking of getting it done in reflecto paint (like street signs). I think a sky blue with white Cervelo reflecto would be sweet as....

Now just to sneak it into the bike shed without first wife noticing. Wish me luck

I can pick up this trail across the street from my house. I goes 30 miles north, or 20 miles south. Along the way are plenty of other trails that join this one; from dirt roads to mountain single track. For the surface shown, I ride 30mm slicks. The single track and mountain trails really demand more tire; 35-38.

Thanks, I took it with my nose!

November at the IL/WI border definitely called for long finger gloves. I really ought to buy touch-screen specific gloves...

That's the Santa Fe trail, south of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

I'm running the Zipp Tangente Course 30mm tires, which I quite like. They roll quite fast. The wheels are 700C Zipp 303 disc.
