Got to have surgery, can't swim, rowing?

Got to have surgery, not allowed to swim whilst it heals up (4-6 weeks)
Any getting a rower? Is there any crossover at all? Or should I just bike and run more?

It is possible (and good training) to swim with only one arm.
One (or or no) legs would also be possible.
Or is it a water issue?

I doubt there is much crossover with rowing.

In all seriousness I love the Concept2 I use it as a warm up b/f weights it's a nice way to get my body awake after sitting in the car all day, loosen up and get a little lather going. Can't say if it's a specific carry over probably not, but you can make it as hard as you want some of the most lung searing moments of my life have been on 500 pieces vs the clock. Ouch!

Concept 2 is great for general off-season fitness and as a change if you're getting bored with SBR. Other than keeping you aerobically fit I've never found any crossover with swimming though. In fact rowing (alongside cycling) is probably my strongest sport, and swimming is my weakest. Have found some decent crossover between rowing and cycling, had some of my best bike times after a winter spent mainly rowing (both indoors and out) and with very short adaptation period as well.

So in your situation, I'd probably just bike and run more and maybe do some band work which works the swim muscles more specifically.
