You against nature
The idea was/is to create a unique race on the "iron distance".
Where the athletes experience the rough and beautiful nature at the West Coast of Jutland.
A race where the athlete compete against herself/himself and the nature, along with other tough athletes.
A race where only the toughest dare to compete.
A race that will be a legendary and prestigious event. And you can brag to have raced in the first edition.
A race you will remember and will be proud of to have completed.
In our terms many events are artificial backdrop - Thor Beach Triathlon is the real ting. Deal with the terms nature provides on raceday.

• Swim in the rough North Sea.
• Bike in the windy, beautiful and unique landscape around Nissum Fjord.
• Finish with a challenging beach marathon in the authentic environment along the West Coast. It will be tough, and you’ll have to keep a cool mind

Thorsminde
Thorsminde, also known as the pearl of the West Coast.
The town of Thorsminde is an old fishing environment. Fishing is still today the main occupation.
The residents are very friendly and open-minded and used to be visited by many tourists.
Thorsminde provides the perfect setting for a unique nature experience race.
Thorsminde is located between the rough North Sea and the beautiful Nissum Fjord.

There will be a social triathlon atmosphere in the town of Thorsminde at race weekend,
with almost as many athletes as permanent residents in Thorsminde.
We hope many athletes will accept the offer to accommodate for free at the school.
This will also create a unique prelude.

The ever-increasingly popular KMD Ironman competitions are already attracting thousands of competitors to Denmark every year, and next year the toughest of the tough can take it one step further.
On August 6 next year, Denmark will host its first extreme triathlon (one which is not contested on a flat surface) at the Ironman distance on the west coast of Jutland at Thorsminde.
The race, named Thor Beach Triathlon, will involve swimming 3.8 km in the North Sea, cycling 186 km around Nissum Fjord and running 42.2 km up the coast line on the beach.
“We thought that a really extreme Ironman was missing in Denmark,” said Hans Jespersen, the founder of the race alongside Dennis Steffensen, told Jyllands-Posten newspaper.
“We’ve taken part in the Ironman in Copenhagen and, while it’s a super event, we would like something a little bit tougher.”

Challenging terrain
According to Jespersen, the rough North Sea, windy conditions and hilly terrain will provide an extra challenge for the athletes.

Beach start

3.8 km. swim in the North Sea

2 loop swim course with currents and small waves/swells

Fishtrawlers will act as buoys, which you must swim around

SaferSwimmer will be handed out and must be worn at

all time during the swim course

• Safety comes first. In case of rough sea, the swim course will be settled in Nissum Fjord
• Wetsuit is mandatory
• Cut-off time 2 hours 30 minutes (caused by safety)
• Lifeguards will be present - in cooperation with Board:Up North

Of course you'll be doing a surprise out-of-competition drug test, right? And I guess this means your race is unsanctioned?

Didn't ask me but I'll answer anyway :)

My belief is that Lance should not be welcome in any real competitive athletic event. He gave up his right to be accepted by his fellow athletes by poisoning sport. Therefore it is my right, and the right of any athlete that feels the same way that I do to avoid events that allow him in and speak out against event directors who welcome him - particularly against event directors who enthusiastically endorse him and promote his participation. What message is Thor Beach sending to athletes? To kids? That it is OK to not only cheat, but also to slander and destroy the lives of anyone who tries to hold you accountable to the rules?

Thor Beach should disinvite him and recant their enthusiastic support for him and stand up for clean sport and sportsmanship - perhaps by dedicating themselves to testing participants of their event (in and out of comp).
