Got this from Men's Health:
Bad news for fit endurance athletes and great news for lazy asses.
"Your excercising heart rate can forecast more than calories burned-it can also predict your risk of an early death.
French researchers put 6000 men through a workout, then tracked their health for 23 yrs.
Men whose heart rate rose the least during excerise-by less than 89 beats per min(bpm)-were six times more likely to die of a heart attack than men whose heart rates skyrocketed
Men whose heart rate didn't drop by at least 25bpm within one minute after a workout also had a greater risk of cardiac death.
The culprit? A heart that can't adapt to sudden changes in blood pressure, like those that occur during a heart attack, says lead author Xavier Jouven, M.D.
Now excuse me, i need to get back to writing my will
