A Message from USA Triathlon:

USA Triathlon acknowledges that the Gill family is one of the most charitable philanthropic groups in the country. The quote made in a recent press release critical of a race series not sanctioning through the national and international triathlon federations was focused on the "world championship" designation and the impact of that designation on the global sports paradigm. The quote was never intended to disparage the Gill family, the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) or the Ironman brand. This sport is not big enough for a division between two influential organizations. We hope to meet with WTC during the off-season, settle our differences and bring the triathlon family together again. Our goal always has been and will continue to be to work with anyone who aspires to make the sport of triathlon even stronger.

Brad Davison, President of USA Triathlon
F. Skip Gilbert, Executive Director of USA Triathlon

I think both WTC and USAT were always under the assumption that they would be back together again next season... At least that was the impression I got from WTC people at IMWI

That would be the smart thing to do, and what any rational, right thinking orginization would do. Question is, are WTC and USAT aware that they both hold each others future sucess in their grubby little hands?

I dont see it that way. With the 2006 TriGlobal Ford 70.3 series and their version of a 70.3 World Championship in Florida.........how long can it be before they have an Olympic Distance series and Oly Distance World Championship? At that point they (TriGlobal) would have all the world championship cards.... the IM,70.3,Oly Tri.

This would (imo) make USAT more worthless than the old AAU. At least we never had to pay extortion money to the AAU to be on a US team or go to World Championship events!
