I went through about 3 pairs of GTS 5's before I switched to the Glycerin's. Once I got orthodics, the GTS 5's pronated my foot out too much so I had to switch to something that was more stable.

I ran in various orthotics (there IS a god, and he makes orthotics) in my GTS until the orthotics and brand new shoes were stolen from the changeroom while I showered! I got new shoes and use my old orthotics for now until my very thin IM training budget allows for new orthotics. I've talked to lots of people and no-one makes orthotics as good as my old orthotics. Even my podiatrist was very impresssed with my pair. Damn thieves! My new GTS are just as good as I remember so I'm reasonably happy.

Well, my feet are different than yours so the GTS caused my problems, but the Glycerins work great for me ;-)

Traditionally, Asics 2*** series for training, DS Trainers for racing. But since suffering a neuroma back in March, which got worse following an iron about six weeks ago, I'm trying several other models in search of a wide enough toe box so that the effects of the neuroma are minimized. (With huge regrets, the DS Trainers are just too tight in the toe box.)

What I'm rotating through now includes the following, along with Asics 2100:

NB 901

Vitruvian Proportion

Asics Empire

I've tried the NB 901s just once (yesterday), but they were a real relief for the neuroma. I may also give a shot at the NB 766 and Mizuno Inspire.

Do you REALLY want me to expose my running shoe fetish?

Ok, but you asked for it...

2 x Pearl Izumi Push Plus (main training shoes)
1 x Pearl Izumi Out (lightweight trainers)
1 x Pearl Izumi Take Plus (trail shoes)
2 x Nike Zoom Swift (lightweight trainers)
1 x Asics Gel Eagle Trail (trail shoes, and current favorites)
1 x Asics Gel Nimbus V (workhorse trainers, and oldest pair)
1 x Adidas Rat Racer (flats, OLD)
1 x Asics DS Racer (flats, not so old)
1 x Nike ???? (trail shoes, 8 years old, but for REALLY muddy trail days)

God knows there are probably some pairs I'm missing, but these are the ones that I've used at least a couple of times in the last six months or so...

You'll note most of those are neutral runner type shoes with little or no crap to get in the way of running...the DS Racers are nice but get in my way a bit and I much prefer the Rat Racers though they are older by several years. The abundance of Pearl Izumi shoes comes from huge deals I got from Ebay this year...I bought about 10 pairs total, for about $20 each. They've proven serviceable, but the forefeet are too stiff in the Push model...I've got 1 unused pair left and I don't think I'll repeat that experiment once those are worn out. On the plus side I did get a year's worth (8 pairs of main trainer types) for about what I'd have paid for 2 pairs of Asics Nimbus (my current favorite everyday trainer), so I can't argue with that. Anyway...I have a love affair with running shoes, as you can see. As long as a model promises to serve my foot/gait type (neutral), I'm apt to try it, often trading manufacturers on a whim... This year I'll probably grab a pair of Vitruvians for kicks. I haven't yet because I'm nearly certain they'll become an all time favorite. I love shoes that get out of my way.

Mizuno Wave Spacer - any distance / pace
Nike Free 4.0 Trainer - any distance / pace
Nike Free 5.0 - when I want more cushioning
Nike Katana Racer - racing and some training runs

And to think there was a very long number of years when I wouldn't dream of buying or wearing Nike running shoes.

Saucony - Tangent

Asics - Nimbus

I like both of these shoes, besides I like shoes that stand out , that way it is hard to claim that you thought they were yours when you try and steal them.
