BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- A top Lithuanian tennis player was on life support after he was struck by a pickup truck as he and another Lynn University student were pushing a car.

Aivarus Balzekas, a member of the Lithuanian national team, was in very grave condition Monday at Delray Medical Center, where doctors had to amputate one of his legs, school spokeswoman Michele Morris said.

The 23-year-old Balzekas and Hakki Yavuz, 21, from Turkey, were pushing a car early Saturday when a pickup driven by David Walsh, 24, of Boca Raton, plowed into them, police said. No charges have been filed.

Yavuz was listed in good condition Monday, Morris said.

Balzekas played his first season at Lynn last spring, posting a 12-6 record.

He had transferred to Lynn after playing one season at Auburn-Montgomery in Alabama, where he was a member of the 2004 NAIA national championship team. He had played in the junior tournaments at Wimbledon and the Australian and French opens.
