Hey all- question on the legality of aero helmets that are not CPSC certified. I seem to recall in a previous post that aero helmets that are CE certified for use in Europe, but do not have the CPSC certification for use in the US were not legal for use in tri's in the US. However, I just grabbed the September issue of Triathlete from a newsstand, and there was an article on aero helmets that essentially states that if you want to use a Bell Meteor or other Euro-legal helmet you can do so if you can get your hands on one. I believe it also mentioned several pro's that would be using non-CPSC certified helmets in Kona. So what's the deal? Can I contact a UK shop and order myself a Bell Meteor and run it legally in the US?

YES for WTC races.
NO for USAT races.
So any IM-brand (or 70.3 brand) race will be ok. Any regular USAT race will NOT be ok. Any race that is unsanctioned (i.e. your local tri) will be up to the RD.
