A russian won the 50Km this morning in 3:38. That is 7:00min/mile the whole way. It looks so horrible when they are doing it, it can't be good for your hips. Can this guys walk at all at age 50?

Hello,
Many people get into race walking after running injuries. No impact. Its a bizarre sport though, virtually every top competitor could be DQ'd for form violations, but the refs tend to be lax. IIRC one competitor in a past olympics got her 2nd violation in the last 100m (and was therefore DQ) while winning by a huge margin. Somewhat off topic the Race Walking episode of Malcolm in the Middle was gut busting hilarious.
