I was just told by a bike coach that if I want to go faster/farther I would need to gain at least 15 pounds. As I stand right now I am 5'9" or so and weigh about 150 (heaviest ever). He figured that my body fat % was between 4 and 6. I like to do halfs and am looking to do an ironman. So he says that after a certain amount of time I have no energy reserves, so I start to break down the muscle for energy. So of course I slow down. Any one else in the same boat? How did you gain at least some weight without feeling horrible trying to eat beyond the limit.
