Hamstring/hip/it band pain HELP!
Can anyone help me with an injury I have, which is 3" below my hip joint on the outside of my leg between my it band and my hamstring in about a 3-4' diameter area. It is a burning pain and has stopped me from running completely. It started last August with a hamstring strain and then moved to its current location. It is deep in the muscle next to the bone. I have tryed two doctors, a neurologist, PT, ART, accupuncture, cortosone and two chiropractors with no avail. I also have had two MRI's (one lumbar and one of the hip hamstring area) with no reason found for the pain. I have also had an x-ray done of my hip joint. I have tryed excessive stretching, no stretching, weights and no weights. Currently I am trying a foam roller which makes it sore all of the time. The pain is almost immediate when I try to run. The pain occurs when my leg is extended and I pull back during my stride. I can still ride a bike with little or no pain. I was a top age group USATF All American before this happened. HELP

Whenever I hear someone describe a chronic pain as a "burning pain" and there is no obvious source that has been found (all the work-up are "negative" and all the doctors are "stumped") I think reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Find yourself a chroinc pain specialist, preferably an anesthesiologist (that is what I was when I was practicing medicine). If this is what it is it can be easy to treat if it is recognized. It is probably the most common misdiagnosed pain problem anywhere. Just on your story alone I would give you a 75% chance of having this condition.
