P2SL vs. P2SL Pro
I'm hoping to buy my new ride tomorrow at the far LBS (but only if it fits right). Are the components on the P2SL Pro kits worth the extra $400. I'm still learning the lingo and this thing called work keeps getting in the way of my research.

I guess I would go with the Ultegra version and upgrade the basebar.

If you plan to ride 200 miles or more a week, the answer is maybe.

If you have the $400 then sure, but I would likely buy the cheaper one and spend that extra $400 on upgrades. Like other's have said (although I am failing to see which one is the "ultergra version") I would upgrade the basebar/aerobar (Profile Carbon T2 & Carbon Basebar) as well as upgrade the crankset...

The real problem I see is both bikes are Shimano Equipped :D

I would pick up the cheaper one and then figure out what you would want to do for upgrades in the future. I don't think you would notice the cranks but more things like the bars, seat, etc. Go cheaper and then change out the parts that you are really going to notice with the ones that work for you.

Get the cheaper one, I actually think the saddle on that one is better.

Take the $400 and replace the basebar and the brakes.

He didn't put that chart up originally. The Ultegra spec is on the Cervelo website.

I'm assuming thats not an option, so go with the regular and spend the $400 on upgrades of your choice.

Basebar seems to be the best upgrade... are these expensive? any recommendations?

There is an Ultegra version of the P2SL $1750:
Components
Aero Bars: Profiel T2+
Base Bar: Cervelo
Brake levers: Dia-Comp
Brake Calipers: Cervelo
Derailleurs: Ultegra
Cassette: Ultegra
Chain: Ultegra
Crank set: FSA Gossamer
Wheel set: Easton Vista, or Shiamno R500
Saddle: Profile Tri Stryke Cro-Mo

I would get the cheaper of the two. Then take the extra 400 dollars and give it to Martyg, the coach who replied to your post, and have a good training plan for the rest of the season.

I really like the aluminum VisionTech basebar. It's about $80-90 and works well with the T2 extensions your bike will come with.

no need to swap out the brakes unless you live where it's hilly and you're gonna be on and off the brakes a bunch. I live where it's flat and I don't have a problem with the stock brake calipers. I agree however with saving the $400 and also think the profile saddle is a bit nicer.

the ultegra version is a painted aluminum frame whereas the other two you mentioned are the anondized versions which are much more durable. i'd go with the anondized version if I were you. I've owned a couple of painted Cervelo frames in the past and I swear I could just look at the frame and the paint would chip off. Just my .02

Thanks for your change... I was set on getting the Ultegra version if the bike fit.
