Olympic 2 weeks before a Half IM?
I am doing my first Half IM at Racine on July 22. I just realized that there is an Olympic distance race in my hometown that I would like to do but it is on July 8, two weeks before Racine. Is this a bad idea to do this race or is it ok to do? Just curious what the majority of you think.

Thanks

Tim

Doing the same thing here. Honu 2 weeks after Honolulu Tri. Not starting taper until about middle of the week(after Honolulu Tri). Hell if Tribodyboarder can do IM - .5 IM back to back, anything is possible ;-)

Aloha,
Matt

The answer to this one will always be "it depends how quickly you recover". As Furndog pointed out, I did IMFL the weekend before Clearwater (70.3 Championships) last November fortunately with no issues, but I knew my own personal recovery ability. If you can feel 100% within two weeks, definitely do it. You figure you'd probably be training for 2-2 1/2 hours ANYWAY 2 weekends before the HIM.
