HED 4 CDA

Ready to purchase a new wheel set early enough to ride 'em before CDA. So far, a HED3 / Alps combo seems best for me (on a Kuota Kalibur). Thoughts?

I don't believe the Alps have ever got great reviews in terms of durability or aerodynamics. If you want clinchers I would go with a Jet 60 up front or another tri-spoke.

I believe the Alps are being discontinued soon.

Have a REnn 575 and Nimble Crosswind combo which works well for me in all conditions and the front wheel is aero AND easy to handle in heavy crosswinds.

Bibi3 - it's going to be an opinion but one I've come to through trial and error, lots of different wheel sets, and observing/coaching hundreds of athletes on the similar question. Go with the Hed 3 rear for sure, go with a shallow from Jet 50 or Jet 60 and go clincer. Take 'em into your LBS and see how a Conti Supersonic Grand Prix fits on there - if it's too tight then get something just down the line like a Grand Prix.

Have a great day in CdA.

Thanks Ian. I'm julian from the LATC and I know you and value your opinion (as well as MOST others on this forum). I'm now leaning toward the HED3/Jet 60 combo. I'll look into those tires.

Are you going to be at Strawberry Fields tomorrow?
