RevX is a nice aero wheel, seem to be cheap as well.

And potentially hazardous...don't crash - it'll be like putting your hand in a blender.

Agreed on the hazdarous part. You'll need to check any revx over carefully before committing to a ride as well. ( or for that matter any older wheel.)

I believe that the Rev-X's are a fairly sketchy buy because of breakage. Supposedly the carbon blades are prone to cracking near the hub, so you're best to either avoid them, or check them out REALLY well...as in every time you ride.

I've been searching for a pair of Jet 90s..... good luck. It seems they are impossible to come by.

I got offered a set of new 808s at cost, and buying a set of used Hed3s will save me over a grand!
I'm realizing that the difference of seconds or whatever high end gear has to offer is worthless unless I'm at my peak age, or a pro.
At 22 I'll worry about putting more time in training, and deal with the cheaper heavier stuff..... becasue if you beat me by 2 min on the bike because of fancy wheels, I'll still hunt you down on the run.
:)

yea, just not worth the cash..... sex appeal is nice on a bike, but there's more sex appeal with a podium spot than on wheels.

Go with the Hed 3 if you can find them.... it's not too hard.

You guys are babies. A lot of the best cyclists used to train with the Rev X's as their all around training wheelsets, it seemed like they went really hit or miss---some would implode on hitting a pot hole and others were bomb proof. I used them a few years ago for two years as my training wheelset and never "checked them every ride" and they were just fine, fast but a little heavy for my like....but I agree, if you hit a squirrel they'll shred it like a chainsaw!!!

We just bought a bunch of Pro-Lites to sell since we were very impressed by them. Now, I can't tell you we have a ton of miles on these yet. We don't. But there are some very nice elements to the construction of these wheels and we couldn't find a thing wrong them.

Check them out here on our new e-commerce site:

Tom, I noticed that your website just lists the Pro-Lites as tubular. Do you sell them as clinchers as well? Also I noticed that you are now doing mail order. Any idea on shipping costs to Ontario?

I'd go with the JET 90's. They're new so used probably is unlikely.

Availabilty for new seems fine & I have them in stock in Canada.

Actually, the REV-X wheels crack where the blades are riveted near the rim. The rivets cause a stress riser that propogates through the blade. The remaining blades can't support the stress and fail rapidly, in succession; causing the rider's fork to bite the road surface and drive the rider into the pavement like a flesh piton. Have a nice day!

Better bet: Used Zipp 400, Hed stinger/jet/H3 (or specialized version), gipiemme 716, Cosmic (equipe/elite/carbone,etc.)

sometimes Hed has closeouts on their site,
http://www.hedcycling.com/closeouts/
nothing there now, unfortunately.

Ebay's been good for me, but it's hard to find secondhand clincher race wheels, it's mostly tubulars. I just looked for Hed and Zipps, in the secondhand market I didn't trust any of the other brands. That said there have been fake Zipp bars on ebay, it's not impossible fake wheels might show up too..

I scored a Zipp ZR-1 on ebay for $155 because someone misspelled it "Zip".

Good for you. Yours never failed. You're my hero.

Mmm...flesh piton. And you're calling us babies?
