Cool races:

I was on the bus in =front of him at Alcatraz and he was talking about how nice it is to be doing a shorter race (like Alcatraz) and how long of a day Ironman is. He was talking about the race in respectful, awstruck tones. Coming from an athlete of his stature, it kept the whole thing in perspective. Then I did Alcatraz and it kicked my ass....

actually he didn't even START an IM this year as far as I know. There is a very interesting podcast with Dave Scott on Competitors (seach for it on iTunes) where Dave talks about how Simon has trouble with longer races and processing his nutrition. He has changed focus this year and is aiming for the 70.3 WC next month. He's been tearing up the 70.3 series this year and looks to be in great shape still.

Dave said they are working to figure out his nutrition and hopefully he will be back to IM next year.
