I want to swim with you! Great workout! I could try it at my pool, but nobody would do that with me. They all stare at me with disgust when I do my 10x100y free on the 1:30 starting at 1:10 and bringing it down to 1:00. Without another good swimmer, I don't push myself as hard as I should.

awww, that'd be fun :) I like to swim with 1-2 other people; it is much easier to push yourself when you're working out (read: racing!) with another person.

I swim at "recreational swim" time, and I imagine from above it must look funny to see a bunch of lap swimmers, and then me in the middle of all of them hammering out whatever my workout is for the day.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

Here's mine:
Wake up.
Coffee and cereal.
Coaching Boys U12 soccer team and have 8:00 game.
We win 5-4 (come from behind effort)
Eat donut with the team.
Now at home pondering what to do the rest of the day. It's my birthday, so I should do years x 100 on the 1:30 right? (That'd take all day, 'cause I'm 51, now) let's see 51*1.5=76:30) ahh, screw it. Take a day off, instead.

Weekdays, I only have about a half-hour to swim in the mornings, so my typical routine is:
500 or 1000 yd wu progressively getting faster.
2x400 IM kick (no kickboard and flutter on sides)
5 or 10x100 on 1:30 (coming in around 1:05 - 1:10), or 5x200 on 3:00 (coming in around 2:15 - 2:20) occasionally, I'll do the 100's as IM if my lane partner(s) don't mind.
100 yd easy
100 yd all out (hit :59 last time - I think fresh, off the block, I could approach :50, I'll have to try sometime.)
200 cool down
mad rush to work (late every time)

soy cocoa and cereal here....

Wow, you've got sprint speed. My fastest 100 is like a 1:05... the longer the distance, the better I do. 500, 1000, 1650 - :D

"mad rush to work - late every time"

I'm always running across campus, grabbing breakfast on the run at the student union, at class, eat in class to the annoyance of my professor. Life is fun as a swimmer :D

I'm watchinng Kona and the swim winner, John Weston, in my AG did a 51:54. I did a 56:04 in Florida. To contrast, Joe Bonness did 1:00 or so and did 1:08 today at Kona. Talk about speed... holy moly!!!

BTW: Isn't it nice to smell like chlorine the rest of the day?
