At one point I believe he said he wouldn't do Hawaii again until after he won a IM. Then he had to drop out of Ultraman the year he was defending champ after a severe reaction to a man o war or jellyfish sting so, saltwater swims may may be a concern. I don't know if the archives for his forum are still active but it was discussed there.

As mentioned already, gordo had a life threating reaction to a sting from a box jellyfish while defending his ultraman title in 2003.

In past years he has also focused on IMC as his "A" race, the scheduling of which conflicts with Kona from a recovery standpoint in his view.

Anymore? Did he ever? I know he did the Ultraman a couple of times, but I don't ever remember him racing Kona(the IM), at least not since he got really fast.

I believe he's raced here twice. Once early on when he qualifed at half vineman. The second time I forget the year but we body marked him.

Does he have a flaw?????? Oh boy......... he does a pretty good job of describing his flaws in his writing9s) but I'll give you few I think he would acknowledge - a weakness for red wine, his bed (can't get out of it for weeks at a time some times) and he's a bit grumpy when he's really shelled and also has a tendency to hit the pavement really hard when he's knackered......... but he's working on all 4 of those things for 2007.

He's human just like the rest of you.
