Enhancing/Training Your Ability to Recover From Race Efforts

Looking for things you can do to speed recovery from race and/or long/hard workouts. Right now, for recovery from long/hard efforts or races I use the following:

endurox + cool legs in lake immediately after the race, alot of ice baths (more than 1x a day if my legs are very sore/hot in the days following the race), daily glutamine/vitamin C/vitamin E/glucosamine supplements, very easy spinning on the bike in the 2-3 days after the race, little or no running (no running for 5 days for HIM, 2-3 weeks for IM) and get as much sleep as possible.

What else can you do to get back to having fresh legs quicker?

Also, are there particular types or mothods of training that over time will more greatly enhance one's ability to recover quickly?
