Most of you have never heard this version of ''Can't Find my way Home'' and it might seem sacrilegious but Ellen Mcillwain's acoustic version just really nails it;
"Psycho Killer" as performed in the concert is a solo acoustic number, so we'll start off with The National for that; but then "Thank You Sending Me An Angel" is also kinda twangy & cowboy rhumba-ish, so?
I'd love to hear Mylie Cyrus sing "Heaven" - should go dig into her Gospel roots and really spiritualize it
David Byrne uses a weird vocal styling on "Swamp" so let's give that to Lorde
"Life During Wartime" is made for The Linda's Lindas, as kids who've grown up in a life during wartime
Money Mark was The Beastie Boys keyboard player, and "Once in a Lifetime" has that great part opening it up; I'd like to see what he could do with it
Since it was originally a Soul record, and Chicano Batman can bring the funk, let's "Take Me (them LOL) To The River"
That's my list, off the top of my head. I'll have to listen more to the other participants and return - and revise if need be "What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy "Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin
Needless to say, I'm getting pretty excited about this project (ok, tense & nervous)
Now we get to play the game of "Who Covers What?"
David Byrne uses a weird vocal styling on "Swamp" so let's give that to Lorde
Nope -

Also, nope

I'd not yet heard of Teezo Touchdown, so this is new to me
Honestly, it sounds like they were given the Speaking In Tongues multi-track (from Rick Beato, maybe? He's got all the connections), and went with that vs the Stop Making Sense version "What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy "Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin
Speaking of Rick Beato, this came up in my YouTube feed last week
We've heard/seen "First Time Reactions" videos around, and they all look a little fake to me ('you never heard of this before? Really?') but this one looks pretty legit. Also, Rick follows her on IG, so there's a layer of credibility others may not have
Boy, oh boy ... is SHE in for a surprise!!!
After this, I found that she'd also done first reactions to "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Baba O'Reilly"
I must admit; I'm sort of in love a little bit? #nerd_HOT "What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy "Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin
Can't wait to hear/see what Danny Carey + Steve Vai + Adrian Belew + Tony Levin produce with their King Crimson project!!! "What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy "Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin
The vocals are fantastic. Interesting hearing female voices sing Maynard's lyrics. It works. The devil made me do it the first time, second time I done it on my own - W
This is not the best cover (although the original kinda sucks, so it would hard NOT to improve) and I have ZERO idea how this came up in my feed, but the commitment to an audience of 40 (TOPS!!!) is worth noting
That's how it's done people - treat each show as it's your most important EVER and the people there will feel like they're important, too
I learned that in a pizza place in Poughkeepsie "What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy "Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin
Yeah, XPN does "885 'somethings'" every year or so
Considering that the ranking is generated by listener poll, the list reflects the audience
That being said, that's a solid list there. Not sure if Fun Boy Three's "Our Lips Are Sealed" counts as a cover, since it was co-written by Jane Weidlin and Terry Hall; same with "China Girl" as Bowie & Iggy wrote it together, I believe? Also, if you do a remake of a your own sing, originally recorded with your old band, on a solo recording, is it a cover? Technically, I guess, yes, but ... "What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy "Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin
