Some amazing person needs to make a playlist of all of these.

Without reading every post and possibly duplicating, here we go…

That was actually the FIRST Interrupters song I ever heard, way back then

Not necessarily "cover songs" but if you've never heard Edgar Allen Poe read by Iggy Pop or Christopher Walken, here is my Halloween Treat for you

These guys have some seriously impressive chops.

It's an ambitious undertaking covering Emerson Lake & Palmer, though they consistently hit the mark. Their collaborations with pianist Rachel Flowers are exceptional.

One of my favourite ELP tracks:

I know it's not "way better than its original", but given the material they're covering, being comparable is just fine by me.

Fripp reprises his guitar riff that made the original. Jakko nails Bowie's vocals. Such a disciplined and tight live band.

Listening to this at volume gives me shivers and goosebumps. Gotta love Crimson.

I'd pay good money for a Joe Pesci reading of The Cask of Amontillado.

I found a radio play titled "The Tell-Tale Heart" starting Boris Karloff but the script has nothing to do with the 'source material' and was highly disappointing

At least the Roger Corman/Vincent Price movies - while "Poe", in title only - were entertaining; I think they did a representation of "A Cask of Amontillado" in The Black Cat, with Peter Lorre?

TIL that “Make you Feel My Love” has been covered by 458 artists with 450 recordings. You could have a whole thread trying to find different covers of just that song and it could have more posts than this thread.

Way too many songs/videos to list, but Cat Power just released a full album and it sounds fantastic.

Cat Power Sings Dylan:The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert

She follows the same song list as Dylan's show at the same venue. Listening to "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" makes me realize there really is no bad cover of that one. Just thinking of the Van Morrison version and how wonderful it is.

One example from her new album.

Yestedary, while I was the gym, I was listening to the 3-5PM show on WPRB "Running Redlights" with Jen

It's pledge week, so they're doing Theme Shows. She brought two hours of Buzzcocks covers, with more coming next week ... or so she promised

When I was working on my aunt's farm in Vermont during the Summer of 1980, I brought six mixtapes with me, because I knew I'd get no radio up there; one each for The Clash, The Police, Talking Heads, The Buzzcocks, AC/DC, Van Halen

My swiftie wife sent me this yesterday. I’m kinda digging it.

Now obviously no cover of “Rock and Roll” will top Zep’s version, but here’s one with Taylor Hawkins on vocals, Dave on drums, and Zep on strings. The vocals are pretty damn good, better than I would have expected.

I don't know if it's way better than the original but it's pretty good. It hit my New Music list Apple music this morning.

Plush covering Heart Barracuda.

Hayley Williams was born in 1988, so she knows no time in this lifeline where this song didn't exist

She's probably been aching for a chance to cover it properly and Paramore delivers

Not "better" but judging by the antics in the studio, some people HAD seen Stop Making Sense, and behaved accordingly

I agree, not "better" but that is a very good version. I do like Hayley's voice and thought she delivered on this song.
