I didn't remember this. Wow!

Imagine playing a Paul McCartney song with Paul McCartney sitting front and center a few feet away? Oh, and you’re doing so in the White House and sitting next to Paul is the freakin’ POTUS and first family. No nerves, I’m sure.

The Foos later recorded the cover.

Historically, this entry really isn't better than the original, but given recent events I am taking some creative liberty.

Ah, so you know The Saints, then!

Memory lane. Loved the Saints. One of Oz's most underrated bands. To this day I have the Saints "Just like Fire Wood" and "Ghost Ships" on my workout mix. I wasn't aware of that Springsteen cover (sadly, I don't think its great).

Sad news today on the passing of Chris Bailey, the founder of the Saints, and one of the founders of the whole punk rock movement.

Way better? May e not. But Valerie June's version of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" is Splendid.

I need a ruling here. Wife says the cover is exponentially better, and that my sentimentality (and Helena Christensen) is blinding me to this obvious truth.

I do appreciate the boss move of making the song and video about her and not some Chad she should have swiped past anyway...

Who sang it better?

Apologies if this has already been posted. Straight cover but video better than the original.

Chris Isaak and it's not even close. Chris Isaak is just pure voice - no editing. The fact that he sounds just as good live and 30 years later is something:

Absolutely incredible how little he’s aged, physically and vocally.

I agree, no contest. But I can appreciate her version in its own right. And that my wife was totally turned on by the singer, whoever she is.

I couldn’t have imagined being interested in hearing Country Road again, until Brandi Carlisle did it in a minor key. Hauntingly beautiful:

OK, it's more than twice as long as Neil ever played [probably], but if I ever had a "favorite" NY + Crazy Horse song, this might be it

Does it count as a cover if they keep the melody but change the words?

Just heard it today. Thread over.

I scrolled through 18 pages to see if anyone had mentioned this one - agree, amazing. Watch the one on Conan - even better than their studio version.

We had tickets to see Ron Artis II at a winery in Cape May a couple of months ago and the night before the show, we found out he'd canceled and Snacktime were playing instead.
Nobody else wanted to go see them so we ended up bagging the show and getting the tickets refunded.. I'm still a little salty about that.
