Out of curiosity, has anyone mentioned Ring of Fire performed by Johnny Cash yet? It was originally performed by his sister-in-law Anita carter.

I always say "Once your song is covered by Johnny Cash, it's not yours anymore"

Same could go for Iggy Pop [who doesn't do a lot of covers though]

This just dropped last week

Steve Winwood, Tom petty, Jeff Lynne, Prince and Dhani Harrison played While My Guitar Gently Weeps when George Harrison was posthumously inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame. It’s really, really good and Prince just burns the stage down the last 2-3 minutes. Story here: https://www.nytimes.com/...ck-hall-of-fame.html

I have the same feelings about Waylon. Vitus and I had a great FB thread going, posting Waylon vs Cash songs, many of them the same song, and I'm pretty sure my guy came out ahead.

On that note, here's Waylon doing Haggard better than Haggard does Haggard:

It's an Australian thing?

I found out about this cover when Kevin Parker was on World Café last week, and they played it at the end [I think there was a comment that maybe they did it to celebrate the birth of their friend Kevin's first child]

It occurred to me that I've been listening to Tame Impala since their/his debut in 2010*, and now my daughter is getting into them/him

There's a good chance you may be....."Since a 2003 study found evidence that Genghis Khan's DNA is present in about 16 million men alive today" so says The Simthsonian.

I only really knew that 'Elephant' song, but started delving into their discography lately and really liking it.

For some reason (actually, I know the reason - it was a steady diet of surf flicks in my teens and early 20s) I have a ton of Australian music that I listen to that most of my friends have never even heard of.

Can I just add that Peyton Manning's friend - who usually wears a cowboy hat - did a pretty good job for himself?

Apparently, those custom GOT Fenders [played by Scott Ian, Tom Morello and Nuno Bettencourt in the vid] went for $25-35K each in 2019
