Another one that could be on either thread, but since my cousin loves Brandi Carlile, I'm posting this on the "Better" thread

"What's your claim?" - Ben Gravy
"Your best work is the work you're excited about" - Rick Rubin

Heard this on XPN this morning, and I thought it was just the isolated piano track

Is it a cover if it's done by the band that performed the original?

Either way, never really cared for the original but kind of like this.

Don't know if Weezer's cover of Africa by Toto has been offered up yet. If so, who cares, it's worth listening to again. I wouldn't say it's way better than the original, but Weezer did a great job. When this song comes up on the radio it gets turned up to 11.

The group A-Ha was always kind of considered just a hip-hop group of teenage boys but they are actually quite impressive musicians. The keyboardist (Magne Furuhoman) wrote some of the music in that song when he was only 15 years old and has written for dozens of other artists. The lead singer, Morten Harket, has a highly regarded range of vocals. A number of top musicians in Europe and elsewhere think highly of them.

Not better than John Legend but it's my crush Jane Zhang so I have to post it...besides, she's singing about me.

She's the top singer in China.

This is great. Thanks for posting. I love unusual covers like this.

I'm sure the fans of the original would cringe, but these really were great renditions of incredible songs.

And one that shouldn't make anyone cringe:

Hurt - Johnny Cash

Wait, what? Under the Bridge is a cover song?
I haven't read all 17 pages of this thread so my apologies if this has been covered already.

See what I did there?

Speaking of, I'll take this over Yusef Islam O'Conner's version any day.

Some will disagree, but Bear McCreary's arrangement of All Along the Watchtower is tops in my book.
