Keeping with that theme of dearly departed rockers covering their faves:

TP and Stevie Nicks "Needles and Pins" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNU5ySctPz4
TP and the Heartbreakers covering the Count 5 garage rock classic "Psychotic Reaction" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCLJQrZia2I
Here's another garage classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EULWqD2t6fM
Then of course, there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q3dXiQJukM

Nice choice, they were always good for some classic 60's covers.

I'll add the J. Geils Band covering The Supremes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOLrOtq6tnU

Unofficial music video for Fitz and the Tantrums' cover of the Eurythmics' classic 80's song "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" using clips from the classic 60's horror film "Carnival of Souls." The quick shot of the cow came from "Triple Goodness," a 1948 documentary on the dairy industry

Not sure if this has been posted, but it's a solid remake. I'm indifferent to the original, but I really dig this one.

David Letterman was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center last night, in a ceremony which included appearances from Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Schumer, his old show’s legendary bandleader Paul Shaffer, and Eddie Vedder. The Pearl Jam leader performed a song by a musician who is famously one of Letterman’s all-time favorites: the late Warren Zevon.

This is for the lovely Virginia Plain

Ha, I heard that about a week ago (on WXPN!) and love it. Downloaded his CD and that track has been a fixture in my car.

Saw The Cult on their "Ceremony" tour ('91/'92?) and the opener was a Canadian band called Bootsauce who seemed to be trying for some kind of RHCP vibe - one of their big hits was apparently a cover of that song. But it really belongs in the other 'covers' thread.

Adele - Hello (metal cover by Leo Moracchioli)

If you are into metal, I highly recommend searching for the cover of Hello above.

I've never experienced such a contrast between hating the original song and loving a cover of it.

Journey's "Open Arms." I could never stand that song.

Turns out it was always meant to be a bluegrass song.

I searched and don't think this is a repeat (or, worse, is in the cover way worse than original thread), but no guarantees as this is 15 page, nine year old thread:

I think Bangles' Hazy Shade of Winter is way better than the original S&G version.

Also Counting Crows' You Ain't Going Nowhere is better than Dylan/Band original, but not "way" better.

Carry on.
