C'mon, man. Have a heart. He was a human being with a caring family. It's not like he's Dick Cheney.

Allegations might be the right word to use. Was he ever actually charged with a crime? I'll admit to not paying attention to everything The Resistance is doing.

Whether he was charged with a crime or not is irrelevant. The allegations against him (and they were many, many allegations) were that he routinely and regularly sexually harassed women who worked for him, including a lot of the on-air "talent" hired by FOX News. While sexual harassment isn't a crime (except in certain circumstances or when government figures are involved), I would still call serial harassers shit-bags and their transgressions "sexual misconduct."

The civil lawsuits against FOX will continue despite Ailes' death. Assuming they actually go to trial, a jury will decide if they are merely "allegations" or something more.

Looks like your mind is already made-up and shut tight. Truth be damned.

Ailes probably faked his death to avoid his own harassment and is sunning on some beach somewhere.

Where did I indicate that my mind is made up? By correcting you that criminal activity isn't relevant? There were a shit ton of allegations. I have no idea if they're true or not. I also think that men who sexually harass women are shit bags. The only thing you can glean from that is that if Ailes actually DID what he's accused of, he's a shit bag.

Try not to project your liberal-hating bias on everything that people say that doesn't conform completely to your own world view.

Both of your posts are a clear indication of your severe bias and closed mind. That's what I'm going by. Do you want to go for three posts of the same? I hear that three times is a charm.

How do you feel about former Pres. Clinton who also had a little trouble with the ladies? Is he at least an equal shitbag?

Classic. "Move along, nothing to see here..."

No doubt if AC were 'alleged' to have groped a bunch of other staff at CNN, you'd be singing a different tune.

I have never read anyone here defend Clinton's womanizing, have you? His behavior was indefensible.

21st Century Fox so far has paid $45 million in settlements related to sexual harassment cases against Ailes, the company reported in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing earlier this month.

Who said anything about criminal charges? Fox has made sure to settle pretty much everything short of trial and I am certain that every settlement comes with confidentiality stipulation. Those two combine to ensure that all the sordid details remain hidden.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Sure, I'm game. Just so I'm clear . . . you do NOT think that men who sexually harass women are shit bags. Got it.

You also don't know how to comprehend written words, apparently, as I've said for the record (twice now) that I don't know (nor do I pass judgment without hearing actual evidence) whether Ailes actually did the things he's accused of. According to you, my conclusion that IF he did do it, he's a shit bag, is a clear indication that I'm biased and have a closed mind.

Gotcha.

Just as nobody had defended Bill Clinton's behavior, notwithstanding Windywave's revisionary attempt to characterize the presidential campaign threads, I don't see anyone excusing anyone of harassing behavior or claiming that is acceptable.

But to your point, I don't believe that men who sexually harass women are necessarily shit bags. Why must everything be black and white, good and evil, etc? Why can't people be complicated and flawed? I know lots of people, men and women, who have done shitty things. But that doesn't define their entire character.

Yet he remains popular and Ailes is (at least on several forums I haunt) a shitbag.

You sound like you are able to separate the two personas. Clinton the popular American President vs. Clinton the serial womanizer.

By the same token can you separate the womanizer Ailes from the genius businessman who re-wrote contemporary media and was instrumental in getting the last four GOP presidents elected?

You're certainly entitled to your opinion on that, as am I. I'm sure that Roger Ailes did some good things in his life, but in this regard, if he did these things, he's a shit bag. I feel the same way about MLK and Bill Cosby. I didn't say Ailes (or MLK, or Bill Clinton, or Cosby) has no redeeming qualifications. I just think that if he did these things, he's an asshole.

FWIW, the statement you bolded was sort of to point out the leap of logic Old Hickory was making in making assumptions. Of course I don't think he condones sexual harassment or idolizes harassers. I don't know him well enough to make that judgment. The point of it was that his attempt to label me and marginalize my statements was based on a similar intellectually dishonest leap.

As you are aware, people who like Clinton like him in spite of his womanizing and possible assaults of women. Those who think Ailes was a shitbag thought so long before he started paying out settlements.

Whenever I think of Clinton I think of Denis Leary's line about Ted Kennedy, "Ted Kennedy, a good senator but a bad date you know what I mean? "What'd I forget? Goddamit the fuckin' girl! Jesus Christ where are my pants?"

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

See bolded ... ok I do admit he is evil ;)

In all seriousness, I think this seems to be human nature and rabid political divisions. Lefties and righties alike seem to be able to separate the personas of "their guy". I actually don't know much about Ailes outside of the sexual abuse stuff.

Gotcha.

The only thing you have gotten, so far, is your own closed minded opinion along with some name calling. I really don't care about this topic except that a few of you are quick to rush to judgement because: 1) he's a dead guy, and 2) he worked at Fox News. Classy stuff.

You really need to bring some game, next time. And bring some brown liquor for Alan Shearer.

Yea, details (facts, perhaps) remain hidden. Does anyone have Ailes DNA on a blue dress? No?
