Just went to a website to buy a sauce pan and upon entering the site it prompted me to give them an email for "15% off on your first purchase and free shipping on purchases over $49".

So I order the pan and upon checkout it asks for shipping preferences. One option is 3 day shipping (for no charge (keep in mind I haven't entered the promo code yet)) and next day shipping for $17.99 (remember that price). The pan itself is $350 (with lid).

I go through the checkout process and enter the promo code when prompted.

When it re-calculates my total it shows...

$350 for the pan.

$38.69 for shipping.

-$38.69 (because of the promo code)

$27.xx sales tax

Total - $377.xx

No 15% discount and shipping fees waved for a shipping option that originally didn't cost money (3 day shipping) but now is more than the price of overnight shipping.

What.The.Fuck!?

On the phone with costumer service and so far three different people have said there's nothing they can do.

This clearly needs a special prosecutor to investigate. Also, a well placed source says that this likely Russian cookware. Your impeachment is imminent!

If you're dumb enough to spend $350 on a pan that you can probably get from Kohls for $19.99 you deserve to be hosed.

Just lost (stolen) my really good sauce pan, bought one at Costco (for $19.99) and it's a piece of fucking garbage.

Yeah, I'll probably spend ~ $3-4K on cookware this year.

If you don't understand i can't help you.

I find the cookware I want, the price is irrelevant.

I thought I splurged spending $350 on an entire Analon set.

Josh is a chef, so the knife was a business expense. And he also charges $500 per person for food at his restaurant. If you want the wine pairing, it is another $500 per person.

Dropping $350 on a saucepan... First world problems!

My wife would spend 3 days trying to sort that shit out and likely walk away with a free pan. Me I hate dealing with this type of stuff, I would just let it ride.

Sounds like my wife has a sister I didn't know about! Ms. eb once spent an hour on the phone trying to get a $1.99 scam charge removed from our credit card. When (to my amazement) she couldn't get satisfaction she handed me the phone with a steely glance and told me to get a hold of the manager. I would've let it go, but her eyes reflected an angry sea and a cold, bleak sky - my mission was clear. An hour later I got the charge removed, the sun emerged, puffy white clouds dotted a blue sky, songbirds cavorted.

Two effing hours to get a $1.99 charge removed, but household harmony is priceless.

Hope you got a BJ out of it.

In the last 2 weeks I've gone into stores and been offered 10% off my purchase if I sign up for their card and refused. A sign up for a discount is only given because they increase their prices 10% and then give you the discount and then, will inundate you with e-mails and promotions.

I'd rather pay the 10% than be reminded daily over the latest deals and refuse to give my e-mails to any store.

That is a 32 day aged squab.

He started thinking about how to serve a bird with the foot still attached about six years ago. He used my wife and I to experiment on. He started with a milk fed baby chicken that was about eight weeks old. It was served similar to that squab with a few grapes, but also included the head split in half so you could eat the brain.

I bet he is buying it so he can melt down all the wheel balancing lead weights he finds on his travels to make fishing sinkers

$350 is low for good quality cookware.

Le Creuset is my go to.

We got a couple of Le Creuset items as wedding gifts. They're nice, but no way would I ever buy one for myself - that kind of expenditure seems crazy to me. But I've noted in other threads that I'm not a foodie and while I appreciate a good meal, really excellent food is wasted on me. If cooking and fine meals were really my thing I suppose probably could see my way to spending hundreds of dollars on a cookpot.

I'm not what you'd consider a "foodie" and the meals I cook at home aren't really what one would call "fine" dining. But I do cook and I like to to cook. And I like to cook more when I'm using quality tools. And when I'm happy about cooking and using quality equipment I make food that is better. To me it's worth it.

Since I've been using the Costco pan I've been pissed. Sure it cleans easy but the heat is so uneven that I can cook three eggs in one pan simultaneously and have one come out over easy, one over medium and one over hard.

I really don't spend much money on most things.

I don't skimp on cooking ware, knives, surfboards, wetsuits, work boots.

With cookware I try to look at it as a lifetime expense and don't mind paying the premium for quality. I'd like to but it once and have it last a lifetime.

Idiot. That's not the pan, it is the stove. What you using? Some department store kenmore?

You would usually get from eight to fifteen courses for $500. It just depends on if you are sitting in one of the 18 seats in the dining room, the bar area, or the private 8 seat test kitchen.

And yes, the stove is also important. But for pans, I only go cast-iron (thin bottom) anyway and $350.- is bottom shelf.
