It's already dead. It's just being amplified by them to make it look more important than it is.

Twitter never was alive. Ther are an estimated 20 million fake accounts.

Facebook will die when the New World Order provides an alternative. This may be delayed a few years since Hillary lost.

This cannot be the most outlandish thing on your facebook page.

Wife and I keep saying we are going to delete it we haven't yet though, she's addicted to the buy sale pages for the area.

I'd be outraged and there would definitely be a good chance that I'd unfriend him...

They've created a huge consumer ecosystem (one of the largest in the world) and will continue to innovate to both grow their user base and make that user base more loyal. It's astounding the scale of the platform and the usage statistics. And even though their growth has slowed there is still a massive oppty as "only" 30% of global internet users use the platform.

My bet is that they look for ways to get into people's lives even more than they do now. I think something like an acquisition of an online grocery platform (think Instacart) would fit the bill. Immediate access to hundreds of millions of users and something that everyone needs (groceries).

I personally can't stand the platform, but they're not going anywhere.

Honestly with FB now, the only reason I go on is for a community events page and the odd occasion that I need to find something cheap and local. For example my wife wants to try bale gardening, not many farmers here square bales - so off to facebook we go.

I'd think so also unless his FB friend was being passive aggressive and pissy because people didn't wish them bday wishes.

If it's a general & blanket "Thanks!" to the people that left bday wishes, I can't understand that being a stupid FB post.

Been clean for 2.5 years myself. Have never once had the urge to go back. Was getting too many pictures of peoples babies on my feed. And commenting with "END" "STOP" or "UNSUBSCRIBE" were not working.

I must've been an early pioneer of the deleting of Facebook. Got rid of it 7 years ago. Not once have I missed it.

Sadly it doesn't seem to be slowing down yet. I'm taking classes online and it seems somewhat common to have the discussion groups as a Facebook group. I won't even sign back up for that. If I can't figure it out on my own I'll just miss that part of the exam! I won't cave in!

Not advocating for its use, just telling you how its been updated. You can now "unfollow" friends which means you can remain friends but not see their uploads or feeds. I have a grand total of 28 "friends" of which I actually see the feeds of 3 or 4. I use facebook only for updates from businesses I frequent (sales, scheduled events, etc), sports teams I follow, and school announcements for my children. I also use it for my dynasty fantasy football league via a private group chat room which comes in handy to talk smack.
