Well, I listened to it despite not being a big fan of your cover of Aina minun pita (as I've said before, primarily because as a Finnish speaker, it loses key nuance in English).
On my macbook speakers I thought, not bad, but not as good as Chuck Berry. But I was intrigued and plugged into my stereo. Much better. In fact, I really liked it, but surely not as good as Chuck Berry. So I listened to Chuck Berry. Well, I'm reluctant to do this, but I have to give you the nod, as I'd rather hear your version. BUT Chuck Berry is handicapped by the lousy recording of his version in 1958. I've seen Chuck live and would expect any live recording of his to beat the original release.
But of course, this does not end the inquiry. Spotify had 50+ (maybe 100+) covers of Run Run Rudolph. So I had to sample some. A big difference is lack of keyboards in your version (though a few times I hear a ringing like keyboards -- guitar effect?). Normally, I'd say keyboards are worth many points for me, but for some reason I like yours without.
And wait for it just a moment longer as I point out that the
highest charting version of RRR was by Whitney Wolanin (never heard of her before reading the wiki), peaking at no. 2 in 2013.
So based on my sampling of a few artists I thought I'd like, here is my rating of covers:
Kelly Clarkson < Luke Bryan < W. Wolanin < Lynyrd Skynyrd < Dave Edmunds = Los Lonely Boys = The Seatbelts
Hearing the first few bars of the Kelly Clarkson version, I thought, here is a winner, but then she quickly lost me (way overdone).
