I had a German Trimag pic and there she looked "shorter", more cramped, but seeing the Kona pic and not being an expert I tend to now agree. Anyway, looks fast in that pic.

can someone explain this deal to me? i'm not saying it's not a good deal, i just don't understand it. don't swiss side and DT both make wheels? as well as i can tell from the release, it's a DT deal and swiss side is just praying over her and laying hands. but i'm not sure how swiss side makes its money, actually. i know they put out some really good aero data. but i don't know who pays for that.

if anybody can tell me whose wheels she is riding (DT, and not swiss side?) and how and why and what swiss side is getting any scratch from this, i'd be obliged. again, i'm not criticizing the deal, i just am naive to it and need to be educated.

The wheels say "Aerodynamics by SWISSSIDE"

DT Swiss gets expertise from a proven name in aero.
Swissside gets paid probably by a cut of wheel sales that they helped design... and their name on a huge brand.
It's like co-writing a song together... not just the performer makes money.

i think it's still a little nebulous. not that i have to understand it. but i don't. are you saying DT can't develop their own wheels unless somebody like swiss side helps them? even then, let's say that happened, why would DT want to share sponsorship branding with anybody? unless they're saying that it's a value add that swiss side helped develop the wheel. okay. but is that what happened?

is swiss side also in charge of her position? okay. but is that the case? what imperatives are important to them? what is their reasoning? what are their drivers?

i'm not criticizing the deal, i just would like to understand the deal. thanks for trying to help me understand it, but to use your analogy, who actually wrote the lyrics? who wrote the melody? who's playing the tambourine? i guess i could just buy the song and enjoy it, and not ask about how the song was made. but if that's so, what song am i buying here? can i buy swiss side on the itunes store?

Isn't this similar to Roval (Specialized) and DT?
Specialized is pouring their resources into Aero (as is swiss-side).
Both companies get proven internals for their hubs from a well known company (DT Swiss).

Some of the best downhill racers in the world still use flats, so they can't be all bad.

What is your preferred "cycling" shoe when riding flat pedals?

DH racing is a very different body position than road riding down a hill.
They also don't pedal uphill.

iam not sure but i believe swiss side also designed the high end tt bikes for cube, so maybe they consider themseves as much as designer than a producer. and maybe thats how they finance their core company. which they are trying to built. Or maybe DT bought part of swiss side or is an investor?

I wonder are those tubular wheels? I am not aware that lightweight makes a clincher disc.

Unsure about DT / SwissSide

Roval CLX64:
Quote:
Developed in our Win Tunnel and designed to interface with the world’s fastest tire, the S-Works Turbo, the CLX 64 is the fastest road race wheel/tire system ever developed. The 21mm tubeless-ready internal rim width further increases tire volume, in turn creating a larger contact patch. And with this particular wheel, you'll benefit from its disc-first design philosophy, combining speed, low weight, and incredible stopping power.
