Oh the humanity! People eat apple pie with cheese?!

I just learned that this is a thing. Who the heck offends such an institution by eating it with cheese?! I demand answers.

I don't and honestly have never seen a single person do this. But I have heard that it's a thing. I will posit that it's not really a thing so much in Southern Ontario.

How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?

One of my favorite snacks is Fiji apple slices with Kerrygold cheddar.

I do occasionally. My parents do religiously. Depending on the sugar content of the pie an 8 year old cheddar can go REALLY nicely with it.

Higher sugar content = good with cheese? Or the opposite?

I've heard about this, but never in my life have I seen it. One of my favorite pairings is blueberry and tart white cheddar, though. Michigan blueberries aren't overly sweet and there's a farm in the region that does a natural white cheddar that knocks me on my ass it's so good. I took a mozzarella making class from them, saw how they take care of the cows and their farm, and it became clear why their white cheddar was the best cheese I've ever had. It's like blueberries and it are soulmates.

But cheese on my pie? No. That's a place reserved for vanilla ice cream.

Blue cheese and dark chocolate truffles. You heard it here first.

I'll try that for sure. Anything for more bleu cheese & dark chocolate.

You try this: a melt on marbled rye with sharp cheddar, roast beef, avocado slices or smashed, a little raspberry preserves, and some blue poppy seed. Spray a little olive oil on and grill it on low heat until the cheese is melty and the bread is crisp. It sounds weird, but is one of the best things I ever randomly threw together.

Apple pie and cheese is just as old as applesauce and pork chops.

Not at all. I know exactly what it is; I grew up in the country and speak hick just fine. I just made every effort to forget that beer & tomato juice is a thing.

I've got an uncle from Michigan that will not eat a slice of pie without cheddar or American cheese. I don't get it but they are out there.

Doesn't Wisconsin have, or had, a crazy law that everyone that order pie in a restaurant be offered cheese?

I grew up eating pork chops and applesauce. It wasn't until adulthood that I discovered all the other ways you could do a pork chop.

Aside: Here's my current favorite:

In Texas we call this a Michelada. They are ok, emphasis is more beer with tomato juice and spices as flavoring. You can even buy it here in the store canned.

yes, i was a pork chop apple saucer myself. but in january the wife and i gave up pork, all forms of beef (including venison, what have you), chicken and turkey and all fowl. we are pescetarians tho we do eat cheese and eggs.

so, when you guys talk about pork and apple sauce, well, eff you all and damn your eyes to hell, because it's still raw, so to speak. it's like i've gone to only 4 twelve step meetings and you're passing peacharitas under my nose.

Poser liquor. The Chelada is made with Clamato. In Canada, it's the real Clamato, none of that loser fructose shit.
