Millenials pass on tampons
A little lighthearted article about millenials and foregoing tampons for a more environmentally friendly option that isn't provided by evil big business.

"There are products made by people who menstruate for people who menstruate," Varnam said. "I struggled with capitalism and feminism. Capitalism is the language most people speak at this moment and feminism (isn't). We need to find a way that they can intersect. We need to be able to be feminists and succeed."

"In the world I see you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway." T Durden

Around here they have also stopped showering. Either that or they all get so stoned they forget to shower. My wife rides the bus to and from work, 30 miles one way. She came home today and finally said shes done, as are several of her friends, also professionals who have been riding the bus for years. All are going to begin carpooling. The reason? She can't even breathe it stinks so bad. That time of day you have a lot of 20 somethings riding home from college or heading to work. Body odor, smoke and that friendly skunk smell of pot. Pretty weird generation.

Diva cup gets a lot of good press from women backpackers. Less trash to carry in/out. Environment friendly.

My wife and most of her friends have used the diva cup for a while. They'll never go back. Seems like a great product.

Isn't that what Patchouli is for?

The only redeeming quality of patchouli is that it's slightly less offensive than the combination of BO and cologne/perfume.

Wrong! There is no redeeming quality of patchouli. Especially when you consider that it is always applied in combination with BO.

I know most people hate it, but I like the smell of it. Still kicking myself because I didn't by a Patchouli plant a few years ago when I saw one.

Never where it though because I know most people don't care for it.

Never thought about where it came from until I saw the plant. This was at a music festival, never seen them for sale anywhere else.

Fuck that, hippies have been wearing them longer than African-Americans have.

Patchouli smells nice if not overdone. On occasion I wear it and always get compliments. Every body holds scents differently and people need to know which ones work for them.

Sure, but for most it smells like insecticide on them. For years, I assumed hippies wore it because it kept the bugs away form their unwashed bodies. I still haven't confirmed that isn't why. Maybe somebody here can explain that.

I assume it's just a strong smell to cover up the BO. Back when I was helping with gross anatomy I would put some under my nose to help ward off the smell of the preservatives.

I thought that was what Vick's was for? You know, the smell is what always bothered me about dead bodies. I have a shitty sense of smell, likely due to head trauma. But there are a few smells that I do detect and drive me nuts when combined with the visual. A rotting body is one of them, infection, canned cat food, and cream cheese. I mean, I can handle the smell, but not the combination of seeing them and smelling them.

McDonald's is also a smell that invokes memories. My grandfather taught physiology and at one time was in charge of procurement at UNC Medical school As a kid he showed me the cadavers, the smell of formaldehyde never bothered me. But I recall him disposing of a no longer useful cadaver, and it was in a furnace. The smell was just like McDonalds. The smell of burning human fat is that same smell as lard.
