I recognized her right away but couldn't come up with the name.

Can you imagine how awful it must feel? Staring at that paparazzo knowing that assholes like us will then debate how much fatter she's gotten since whenever. Or that she'll probably get a mention in one of those grocery line rags with a tagline like: "JLH - Fat and in regab!"

I did lots of dirty things when the internet was fairly new and JLH was my teenage crush. I remember seeing some unflattering photos of her on a beach about a decade ago and it made me sad for a while. Now, not so much...she's 38 with 2 kids, I got nothing wrong with Hollywood types making their millions then retiring from the limelight to raise their kids. In fact, I'd rather that than the Joan Rivers types who live and breathe the spotlight and nip and tuck their way to immortality and turn into skeletal, plastic-and-silicone psychopaths.

To be fair, I'm guessing that her equilibrium state is much closer to where she is now, versus in her glam shots.

I know a few women who were absolute smoke shows at 18-20. They either partied themselves to the point that they now look like old, chewed up baseball gloves, or had kids, put on some weight as is normal, and are now, well, average soccer moms.

Most of the women I have known since childhood that are hot now, definitely were not when they were 18-20.

Life's a bitch sometimes. I doubt JLH cares. I agree with the poster who said it's better then going overboard with plastic surgery in pathetic attempts to look 'youthful'.

I'm not really judging her. Just surprised is all.

My other problem is that I unfairly compare womens to Mrs. Duffy who, at 44, is more beautiful than ever.

One of the things I did when I was single and banging various chicks was to take a real good look at their moms. If the mom was beat I knew the girl wasn't going to be my wife.

I get what Duffy's saying, it's a pretty stark difference...the 'real' shots of celebs can be terribly unflattering but in this case it's almost unrecognizable. I actually thought it was Courtney Cox for a second like someone else.

I didn't even know who JLH was until this thread, the two pics I've seen, one looks like she was the typical model, nearly unhealthy body fat % and the other typical middle aged woman. I don't know anything about her other than what's been said here but she looks happy and content in the first photo, hope she is.

My point is, how someone presents in their later years is largely a product of how they've taken care of themselves during their life. That is not hereditary.

Whereas the illnesses you speak of can be.

Picking a life partner based on their mothers appearance seems Lille a pointless, vain exercise. It's as though we as men believe we will all magically remain physically attractive as we age.

You could always just close your eyes, think of the younger version and remind yourself it's the same person.

I'm pretty sure if you're 'hitting it', she'd be closing her eyes thinking of someone else, so all good.

When mom looks like an older version of your girlfriend and is still hot it's a good sign.
