I'd be interested to know which officials said that, since I'm pretty sure that it's the military's job to make sure an operation that they take to the president for approval should have had those things. Not sure I lay the blame on Trump for this; I would place the blame squarely on the HQ responsible for green lighting the operation to take to the President in the first place.

I agree. The operation was planned under the Obama administration but wasn't executed because they were waiting for a moon-less night. Trump's team approved it a few days after inauguration but the details were in place.

It appears to be a case of a lot of things going wrong. The main problem is that the Al Qaeda fighters protecting the compound were tipped off that the military was coming, that is being investigated. Then, one of the Osprey's had a hard landing injuring 3 Seals and forcing the military to destroy the helicopter. The other main problem was that some women took up arms and engaged the Seals in a fight. Al Qaeda has never used women before and it caught them off guard.

I don't think anyone can blame Trump, or Obama for that matter. There were just a series of things that went wrong.

More #fakenews from the Left. Seems to be a daily occurrence. If you knew how the military worked you would clearly understand just how fake this "anonymous report" is. Serious answer Chris, I think most of those in the media have lost there way and are more concerned about revenue and keeping their name in the news rather than being concerned with what is factual and what is flawed. Both sides will jump on a headline to boast or whine, we are definitely living in interesting times.

Evidently Reuters is now fake news. If they were a real news organization they'd report who recommended the operation to Trump and/or who failed in the intelligence and planning. Isn't that the important thing for us to know?


Real news would have written:

US military officials revealed the General X recommended the first covert counter terrorism operation approved by President Trump without having received sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations.

In other words, if the allegation is true, then heads in the military should be rolling.

Most folks are smart enough to know if someone within the military bungled it, someone will hear "you're fired."
