I actually think he's right.

If he ran again he would've won.

Also, he will be going away in less than a month when President Pence is sworn in.

Hell, I think anyone but Hillary would have won. If he did run, though, it wouldn't have changed the downstream results.

When he stumped for hillery , he put his legacy front and center . He basically said , Yea Hillery sucks, I know... but me! My legacy is in your hands ! Vote for me! I mean her! If you dont , its your fault if they undo everything I have done in the last 8 years.
And people rejected him bigtime !

Obama would have won the election handily.

If Obama had run, he almost certainly would have won an uncontested Democrat primary so the party wouldn't have been nearly as divided as they were with Hilary/Sanders. Then add a much higher black vote and Trump would have no chance. A lot of people voted Trump because Hilary was the only choice but Obama's negative ratings aren't anywhere near as high as Clinton.

Completely agree. A very, very, very small part of me wished this was an option, if for no other reason than to find a real GOP candidate for 2020.

The thing we don't know is- how Trump and his team would have gone after Obama. He is a step ahead of how to win elections compared to the GOP party of past.

Always useful to have some context, unless you're just getting your rocks off shitting on politicians.

He was prompted into the comments by Axelrod who was leading the conversation towards McConnell's tactic of obstruction. He was making the point that, despite some of the rhetoric from Mr. Trump during the campaign, and the effort of Republicans to obstruct his agenda, he feels like the majority of Americans still identify with the ideas of change, unity, etc, and that if he had been able to campaign, he could have gotten a majority of Americans to rally behind that message again, because despite the suggestion that it was a fantasy, most people really thought the direction was right, even if they disagreed with some of the specifics.

Right or wrong in his assessment (I think he's probably wrong), he wasn't really talking about how he could have won the election with a majority of the votes. He was talking about how he thinks a majority of Americans still believe in the direction he talked about when he came into office.

Which is why Trump will be sworn in in a few weeks.

The last eight years have seen change for sure. It was just change that most people don't want (like dudes in girls' locker rooms, shitty health insurance and people thinking it's ok to riot and kill cops).

Unity?

Obama has done more to divide this country than anyone. I suspect he did most of it on purpose and the rest because he still has a huge chip on his shoulder and just couldn't help himself.

Hillary promised "more of the same" and now she's probably loaded up on Xanax and drooling into her lap.

Thanks, Obama.

BTW, I think Obama would have beat Trump.

Funny, Pretty much everyone thought Hillary was going to kick Trump's ass too.

That is true and we will never know but Obama's unfavourable rating, particularly amongst Democrats is nowhere near as low as Clinton. That and the far higher support of women and minorities would make it highly unlikely that Trump would have beaten him.

Despite the hatred for him in the LR, Pres Obama has never had the trust issues that Sec Clinton had. Those hurt her more than the Dems are willing to admit.

People seem to forget that Trump won with fewer votes than Romney got in 2012, it was the lowest voter turn out in almost 3 decades, why? Because a lot of voters didn't trust or like either one, if Obama ran again it would be no contest.

Maybe. But shut up already.

I would say that Trump, has gone on and on far more about the election than Obama has. Trump seems to be still battling in the election, contesting almost every bit of news about the election with a Tweet, gloating, that he did win in a "Landslide" and what's the big deal.

The big deal is the real winners and leaders, move on and forward. They don't continue to fight old, past battles, and keep trying to settle scores. Trump, many times sounds like a kid in the school yard, arguing, bickering, going over and over, something that is done and finished.

When does he start to be and act truly presidential? Now that would be, "unpresidented" :)

Um, not true. Trump ended up with almost 63M votes vs Romney 61M. I'd post a link but you can use google same as i did.

I've looked around and all I can find are article's from Nov. and Dec. all of which state that he got fewer votes than Romney, could you please post the link I'd like to read it. But my point still stands, it was a low voter turn out as a lot of voters didn't trust or like either one, if Obama had run again it would have been no contest.

The funny thing about the OP is that 'petulant child' almost perfectly describes trumps behaviour.

Not saying he isn't right to criticize Obama for what he said, seemed a weird thing to say.

It's classic populist style politics, ascribe to the opponent or opposition those flaws that YOU have! Trump, does this frequently.

Of course, many of his supporters eat it up verbatim, not bothering to look/think beyond the words.

The same people that agree he would have won easily also said Trump wouldn't win any primaries. Wouldn't win the Nomination. Wouldn't beat Hillary.

The irony is that if he had won, he could have built upon the 1034 Democratic seats he's lost since won the popularity contest of 2008.
