Just what we need. A Rocky Horror remake.

Said nobody I know ever. I haven't been able to sit through the original one. Can't imagine this one doing well.

You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway." T Durden

You think about what you just said when you're sitting there watching the debate tonight. I think I'd rather watch weird than being lied to.

One of the greatest cult films ever. Made in 1967 and so ahead of its time. For years afterwards theaters all over the world played it on "dress up" nights. One place in Toronto played it for twenty years every Friday night to a packed audience. You just must have a problem with guys dressed up in corsets, stockings and panties.

Love that movie and a couple of live plays we've seen. Very few remakes have done credit to the original and I would have very low expectations for this one. In fact, especially for this one more so than ever. You can't repeat a cult classic. It will be a total failure.

Oh I know it's a cult classic. A roommate and his woman went in college. There was a theater that showed it every month wih all the live stuff.

But transvestites don't interest me.

Film was made in 1975. Still a cult classic but not quite as far ahead of it's time as you thought ;-)

You're right. My bad. I made a typo that was supposed to be 1976 not 1967, but I was still off by a year.

Tim Curry was demented and perfect. Laverne whats her name will never match it.

Not enough guns, explosions, and killings for you?

I agree that a remake is dumb. But that's where Hollywood is these days. No originality.

I don't think "matching" is the point, since you can't possibly

I kinda like the idea of a girl playing a dude who dresses like a girl. Almost like girls playing Peter Pan on stage [Mary Martin, Cathy Rigby]

It really gained traction with Midnight showings when I was a Senior in HS

Don't know how many loaves of bread I toasted & tossed that year, nor how many newspapers I stole, nor boxes of rice

D'Girls don't know it, but we're gonna have MeatLoaf for dinner that night ["Meatloaf, AGAIN?"]

You would probably really like Victor Victoria, then, with Julie Andrews in that exact scenario.

The old roxy theatre. Required to go on a regular basis when I was in residence at University of Toronto.
Saw the preview. Vocals are way diminished in dynamic range than the original. Will give it a go, but it seems toned down musically.

Yep. My wife used to go to a similar place in London (Ontario) which played it for years every Friday night.

I'm watching the remake on TV right now as I type this. Will give my critique once its over.

Missed the first 25 minutes. Halftime review....

Love Adam Lambert as Eddie in the old Meatloaf role.

Dislike Lavern Cox as Frank. Major dislike.

And sorry, no one can do Janet like Susan Sarandon.

OK, thanks to D'Kid's input

She's a real-life MtF transexual

NOT just a girl dressing up

THAT changes everything

It was one of the best recent remakes I can remember because they actually stuck to script rather than trying to "modernize".

A few subtle differences - the costumes were a bit more conservative, maybe because its prime time and you don't want to offend the religious conservatives in the midwest or maybe because its 2016 and not 1975.

I agree that Adam Albert was great, but can you really replace Meatloaf? But I agree, Adam was great.

No brainer, how do you replace Sarandon, but her fiancee "Brad" was just as good.

The "Rocky" character did not look near as good as the guy in the original. He looked puny compared to the original guy. My wife complained about his baggy boxers compared to the brief golden briefs in the more muscular original guy.

But the strangest thing - a woman in the main role of a male TV. Totally off the wall. But then what male could have done the original tranny role better than Tim Curry.

Good to see Tim Curry as the narrator. He must be 70's now and I understand he had a stroke.

I was 23 when this film came out. Love it just as much now as I did then.

Tried to watch it once. Couldn't make it through. Awful, just awful.

I won't bother watching a remake of a terrible movie.

How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?

You were born too late my son. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the greatest cult classics ever made, especially with audience participation.

You can say that until the cows come home, that doesn't make it good. There's lots of stuff that a lot of people like that is absolute shit.

"Classic" does not equal good.

Yeah, I never really got the big deal with RHPS. Then again, I would rather poke my eyes out than spend a couple of hours with a crowd of people dressed in costumes singing along with a movie and acting out scenes.

Never confuse popularity with quality.
