Share your fall foliage report? Anyone in Kentucky, Tennessee or North Georgia?
My wife has some comp time that she needs to use soon, otherwise she'll lose it. So we're taking off this weekend to go somewhere where the leaves are changing. I don't want to drive too far, so looking for some fall foliage reports. We're thinking either north Georgia or the Carolinas. Another possibility is Kentucky/Indiana area. Several years ago I was in Indiana (near Bloomington) on business during the first two weeks of October and got to see the leaves changing - I enjoy that area and wouldn't mind going back.

Anyone seeing leaves changing within 12 hours of Florida?

UPDATE - We're looking to go this week, leaving around Wednesday. Thinking about Kentucky or Tennessee. Maybe between Nashville and Louisville.

Any updated fall color reports for this area?

Thanks

It's pretty hard to beat the west side of Algonquin park and it's pretty much at it's peak right now.

It's a 3 hour plane ride to Toronto and then a 3 hour drive north. That's only 6 hours.

I'm in SE PA, and the leaves here have not started to turn yet. I don't think you're going to have much luck in GA or the Carolinas this weekend.

I was up in N. GA on Sunday competing in my first tri in 2 years(backdoor brag: 2nd in AG). You have at least 2 to 3 more weeks before it starts to get good. It was mostly green with a little yellow. Temps were highs hitting low 80s, low hitting 60. Finally starting to get the cool evenings to make the colors change.

TAKE THIS SHIT TO THE TRI FORUM!!!

And that is not a backdoor brag. You clearly barged in the front door even though we were trying to stop you and want you to FOAD.

Gonna be tough...here in SW Ohio there is a bit of change, but not much. Going to be a good 3-4 weeks before there is some real color. The aspens in Colorado are gorgeous right now, though, from what I've heard from parents in Grand Junction.

Looks like you'll need to head toward the Rockies or the upper midwest. Here in upstate NY, I'd say that we're a good 7-10 days behind last year. Only spotty color, and very few fallen leaves out on the trails thus far.

The aspens in Colorado have been changing. I was in Colorado Springs until this past weekend and took several trips into the mountains and the leaves were beautiful.

Not that it helps any but the leaves are all yellow in Calgary, the Larch might still be left in the mountains but I wouldn't count on it based on the snow and frost we have had the last week. Not that it matters we're way out side your range.

Here in Shandaken at the height of the Catskills, it's all still pretty green. We usually hit peak between the 15th and the end of the month but it's like it didn't even start yet.

Headed to Asheville, NC through the N. GA hills on Thursday, so I can post back if that will help. No color yet, though some trees have lost leaves due to the dryness. If it does not get wet pretty quickly, this will be one of those Autumns without much color; leaves just go straight to brown and fall.

Negative, ghostrider.

Fall foliage begins, glories, and ends in New England and it's not time yet here unless you want to head way the hell up into Maine or the northeast kingdom (which is legit if you want to, but not really a 12 hour strike from Florida by any reasonable combo of transport).

No foliage for you. Take solace in the fact that you can hunt hogs in your neck of the woods, and won't freeze your nads off come February.

And with the drought, southern New England is gonna suck this year. But I did see some trees changing a month ago. And trees without leaves at all.

Here in coastal Texas if there are fall colors it won't be until December or so. And when there is a change, we'll be lucky to get a fraction of the colors of you with true fall weather.

That's awesome. I used to date a girl from Ontario. She always told me that the fall colours there were beautiful. Here it's just green and bright in the spring/summer, and green and grey in the fall/winter. Still beautiful, but in a very different way.

Long Chile was a silly place.

That is beautiful.

Well, I got deployed to work after Hurricane Matthew so we didn't get to go. Looks like we'll be going somewhere next week instead. It worked out well on both accounts.

This is what's called the 'golden encore' the red maples are done and all the yellow trees like birch are changing.

At the beginning of this week, here in NY's Catskill Mts, we were still near peak. Yesterday it was really turning rusty. Last night cold rain and wind came rolling in and today it looks like hunting season out there. I was supposed to go do a 2/12/2 duathlon today. instead I'm sitting by the fire watching the rain. I'll get on the trainer in a little while then head over to the pool.

Yesterday it was tee shirts and shorts. Today was the first snow of the year. Rain all morning, a couple of hours of snow, and now rain again. And wind, by the time this is over, most of the leaves will be on the ground.

Delaware is starting to show colors, but nothing like Bleps picture. It was a dry summer so it will probably be less colorful. I am guessing peak may be in a week or so.

Ground covered with snow this morning. Cold and very windy. I heard on big tree crack and come crashing down in the forest. Leaves in the northern Catskills just about gone.

The drought in TN has our leaves browning and dropping pretty fast. Its not a good years for fall foilage here. I am in East TN, Knoxille. So pretty much Chattanooga to Tri Cities are a no go. Not sure how the middle TN is fairing.

This week in Northeast Georgia and Southeast Tennessee the colors are turning at 2000 ft elevation. Just go to Chattanooga or Greenville, SC and have fun.

We just drove from Toronto all the way down to Greenville SC and back, for the Gran Fondo Hincapie.

Best colors seemed to be in Pennsylvania. As we went further south, it was more yellow.

As someone else noted, the whole of the area had heavy rain and big winds, for a couple of days. The drive south was done with almost constant rain and strong winds. Bottom line - that's a killer for leaving leaves on the trees!

By the time we drove back north yesterday, many trees had their leaves completely off already!

Thankfully race-day at the Gran Fondo Hincapie, was cool (15C), but total sunshine!

A friend just took this picture at a nearby beach. Typical west coast rain forest in the fall. Although it could easily be June, or February.

Long Chile was a silly place.

not much in the way of color in middle TN this year either. Very dry fall. I was on the Caney Fork River Saturday and mostly just browns and muted yellows. Fishing was good though.
