That's some good stuff. At 130 proof, it pushes the limit on what I can handle neat. I think I'm going to have a sore throat.

I've never ventured past Wild Turkey 101. Respect.

Agreed, good stuff but a touch strong if you want to drink a bunch. As last tri in 83 said - WT 101 is a perfect blend of taste and alcohol.

We clearly have different definitions of "A bunch". I just don't see anyone drinking "A bunch" of something that has an ABV of 50%+ :-)

The thing is you don't have to drink a "bunch" when the alcohol content is that high. At around 65% abv, a few shots will get you there.
I've had 190 Everclear, but only a sip by itself. I ended up mixing it. As much as a durnk as I am, I couldn't down a shot and wouldn't even try.

Try Booker's cousin Baker (different branch of the same Beam family tree, seriously). I believe it's 'only' 107 proof, and slightly less expensive ($50-ish), so a better choice on both of the 2 counts by which Booker's is a bit overkill. I've tried the even more expensive PVW and didn't feel it was appreciably better than Baker's.
Best of the best, IMO (unless we start talking Scotch or fine Tequila, anyway...)

Booze must be more expensive where you live, I just paid 39.xx for Bookers, and Bakers was closer to 30...
Re: Booker's [CW in NH]
[ In reply to ]
Yeah, I'm guessing "Live Free or Die" = significantly lower booze taxes than OR (...unless your 'NH' stands for New Haven or something else). Last time I got Baker's awhile ago it was $48 or so, and everything's gone up since then. I think Booker's is like $59 here. I'll pay that much for Scotch, but for Bourbon, Elijah Craig is plenty good for half the cost (easily better than anything else I've tried in the $25-35 range, at it's at the low end of that; Knob Creek is the next step up IMO, and that's already a big price jump).
w/ no sales tax, just about all our other assorted tax rates are higher than most states on avg. Used to be worth stocking up at the Liquor Barn north of Redding on the way home from CA; even with their steep sales tax we still came out ahead.

I'm finding Jim Beam black label to be a pretty fine bargain.

Yes, I rode that train for awhile as well. Another good price point IMO is Old Ezra 101. For me now, the inflection point in the curve is at EC, being only about a $5 step above the other 2 in these parts, whereas the next step up from that for my taste is at least $10 more.

Just has this with my cousin at Easter dinner last night. What a great bourbon. Runs for $100 a bottle up here in Canukistan (Around $75 USD).
Couldn't do it neat (wouldn't even try, to be honest) but with an ice cube it's fantastic. Had one drink at the start of the evening, then a less expensive rye and ginger or two with the meal and general family schmoozing, then another drink after dessert. Great evening. Not something I'd reach for regularly, due to the strength and price, but a really nice 'special occasion' drink.
Long Chile was a silly place.

I like it a lot, I have 2 bottles right now, but I liked it better when it was $50/bottle and almost always available. Then late last year they decided to only release it 4 times a year instead of 6 and they're gradually raising the price to $100. Just because they think they can.

Just because they think they can.Booker's is getting more recognition, so demand is going up, so they can raise the price. They made a rye last year or maybe early this year that was really good as well. Each small batch is a little different, but I haven't had a bad one yet.

Not a fan. Got a bottle for Christmas and just did not care for the finish. Been sipping on the following (in order of preference):
1. Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon.
2. Eagle Rare Single Barrel Bourbon.
3. Rowan's Creek Bourbon.
4. Michter's Small Batch Boubon.

Tried Blanton's after watching "Justified" and it's now my fav 'good' bourbon. Bottle of Blanton's around here in middle of nowhere, GA is high 40's or low 50s when you can find it.
Day to day bourbon is Elijah Craig small batch
When on moto trips it's JB or Old Crow out of a plastic travel bottle--since at that juncture you're usually sitting around in a camp chair watching Ranger T.V.
On the Blanton's. I've a "A" Bottle Stopper and a "B" bottle stopper--hoping to find a "L" for my next bottle.

I found a bottle of Blanton's at a random liquor store in rural TN last week. Cannot find it anywhere around here. Frustrating. It is becoming harder and harder to find.

Emilio's Dos Almas silver is 110 proof I believe, but I choose the less hearty of his two offers alcohol wise and do the cinnamon. Had a few last night with the Womens at the camp here, it really is good if you have not tried it. A bit costly if you have to have it shipped though, but probably soon to be in most places beyond shipping.

Just another reason why you need to be banned.
Just joking. I didn't notice anything bad with the finish, but, I was drinking it with ice.
I'll see if I can track down some of those other bottles you mentioned. It's always nice to try something new.

I'm probably not expressing it correctly. Maybe "finish" isn't the right word. I was really excited to receive the bottle, but I did not like it much at all. I still have some. I may try it with an ice cube or two. I'm drinking the Michter's right now with a couple drops of water. Not the best I've had, but quite good.
If/when I get banned, don't worry, I got skillz. I'll hack his account and start posting as BLeP ...

Fair enough. My enjoyment of it could have partially been due to the fact that I was expecting it to taste like lighter fluid based on it's strength, but was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty easy to drink, even for a relatively novice bourbon drinker like myself. There's still around 60% of the bottle left after last night, so still plenty of it to try another time!

It is surprisingly mellow for its proof, no doubt.
Southwell's 12 year. If you have the opportunity, grab it. Unique flavor and zero burn. Most interesting bourbon I have ever tried. Not the best, but the most interesting.
