They're Back - Chaincatchers, that is...
I've finally finished the latest batch of chaincatchers - so I now have plenty on hand. These are a little changed from my previous model, in that the pivot is higher to clear a really wide frame's BB area. As before, they can be adjusted without disturbing the front DR settings. (Much like the new integrated SRAM RED style and unlike the more common "K" brand). The good news: no price increase - still $25 (incl shipping). Currently they're all finished in brushed aluminum. However, I can also paint them white, red or black for an extra $5. I'm looking into using "Dura Coat" a coloring system used in the firearms industry. But haven't worked out pricing yet. However, it may prove too expensive for all except really high end bikes...
PM me with your Name & "Snail Mail" address to order. I only sell in person at races and here on Slowtwitch. So until I get burned, I'll ship the item and you can pay with PayPal after you have checked it out. If you don't like it, just send it back (Postage is <$2.00) So no-risk.

any reason these wouldn't work with clamp-on FDs?

Clamp-on front DR's use a different pattern bracket. However, the good news is you can get a chaincatcher for a clamp-n DR for less money.

According to my super accurate Harbor Freight gram scale: 1/2 oz if you live in the U.S. or 14.5g if you live elsewhere. (However, they might be aero - so weight is not a factor).

These things are great. Velonews had some picture a few weeks ago championing something similar on a pro bike, that wasn't nearly as easy to adjust as this.

Do these attach to the front derailer with a longer bolt? Does the initial installation require the derailer to be moved? I am terrible at adjusting the derailers so I am trying to understand how much I might screw up my shifting by putting one of these on my bike. Thanks!

As far as I know, all chaincatchers that use "braze on" FD's require the DR to be removed for mounting. With mine, once it's installed, you can adjust it without disturbing the DR again. I do supply a longer mounting bolt (made of stainless steel!). A hint on mounting is to take a picture (or several pictures) of your current DR mouniting. That way when you go to reinstall it you pretty much know how it should go. You could also get your LBS to do the install - it takes about three minutes...

I ordered one of these about a month ago and forgot to send you the money. Sorry about that! I just corrected my mistake.

To anyone who is thinking about this product: It works perfect. My wife has an old tri bike that she now uses for a commuter. This bike has always dropped the chain. Terry's chain catcher solved the problem that countless bike mechanics gave up on. Thanks!

Current batch of chaincatchers is Sold Out.
If you must have one, I can custom make one of the new design. These are a bit different - they can be removed or adjusted without disturbing the DR mounting bolt (after initial install though) They come in black or white and are finished with a very durable, baked on, coating from the firearms industry. I make these one at a time - to order. To cover my costs, they are $55 each. If you want one, send me a PM and please include your "snail mail" address. Also, no payment is expected until you're sure it will fit and work properly.
Thanks,
Terry

I won't be available to sell any chaincatchers until mid-August. We'll be doing out annual migration back to Florida from Washington State. Since we'll be driving, I'll have only occasional internet access. Messages or emails may not be acknowledged for a week or so,
Thanks,
Terry
