I was definitely cheering for Alistair Brownlee, but great to see Sam Long coming from waaaay off the back and pace/claw his way all the way up to second place at T100 Miami. While it is early in the season, he beat both the Ironman 70.3 and Ironman world champion, the 2012 and 2016 Olympic champion and many more who he technically does not have as much "business" catching from such a slow swim position.
Perhaps what we saw is how much of a disadvantage an athlete like Sam is at day to day in 10m races when others benefit from athletes around them. With race ranger and 20m, Sam's engine came thru!!!

I say "What about Magnus??????" Don't be so North-America-centric. Magnus had a great race and deserved to win. Further, if "Race Ranger" were used in the swim, Sam would not have made it up to 2nd. Everyone complains about drafting on the bike but on the swim it is just a smart strategy. And this is not even mentioning the fact that swim is such a small part of the race. Make the swim 4000m and then it would be a fair race.[/quote]
Because Magnus raced exactly how everyone expected him to and won. Long has been good for a while, but its nice to see him getting to the tippy top. Plus, its exciting to see someone come from behind like that.
