I like the silicone putty ones, as the foam doesn't seal well in my ears. These are always in my toiletry kit for travelling..

For sleeping at home a good down/feather pillow sandwich works well - sleep on my side with one pillow below, and another above. I started doing this due to hemicrania, the pillow contact on the face helps reduce the perceived pain: but it also works well to exclude both light and noise. The top pillow needs to be a good quality feather/down, as this will mold to the head and insulate well.
